Beat the demo twice to make sure I saw everything! Mechanics feel great and I love the theme/music. Platforming is sick and all of the abilities work well together. You get to face a few bosses, all of which are pretty easy, especially if you find the scythe upgrades. Enemies are really cool and the level design is simple, yet captivating. I’m really stoked that this was funded on Kickstarter and look forward to the March release if all goes according to plan! Well done GameAtomic!

This one completely took me by surprise! Main story is great, I really enjoyed the fieldwork side quests and mysteries as well. Exploration is awesome, puzzles are fun, and the collectables were all memorable to track down. Great addition to the Indiana Jones timeline in my opinion, now I’ve gotta go back and rewatch the movies. Loved traversing all the different areas. From the pyramids to hidden temples I loved every second experiencing what MachineGames has created. Wear disguises to blend in with enemies, or go straight in punching and parrying like John Wick. Combat feels awesome, and combine that with a natural feeling progression system, you get a solid experience. I feel like I’ve explored every inch of this game after obtaining all ancient relics, lost artifacts, notes, and foods. I will never forget solving that final ancient relic puzzle to obtain the last note and special cutscene! Definitely a must play.

Had a ton of fun with the demo! Loved building my character even in the short amount of time given. Parrying is awesome, dash feels great, and the music is killer. Blades weapon is my fav and it was an…enjoyable experience conquering the platforming stage! Looking forward to seeing more of this game, well done ExoGenesis Studios. Combat feels smooth and I cannot wait to explore the world you create. If you’re reading this, give the demo a shot! Turn up the difficulty in the settings for a more challenging experience or turn it down to story mode in order to learn the mechanics. Another awesome title to add to my wishlist!

Killer art direction and music with this one! Bosses are fun, overall a pretty easy metroidvania in terms of the ability to become powerful pretty quickly. If you need to satisfy that Hollow Knight itch, Voidwrought is the game for you. Tons of collectable achievements spread across a very big map. Movement and combat feel amazing after you pick up a few abilities. I really enjoyed the exploration and side quests, even though the game is on the shorter side it still offers a great gameplay experience! Had fun finding all the hidden secrets in this one and I’m just thankful for all the awesome metroidvanias we’ve been getting. This was made by a small dev team of a couple people…well done and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Skelethrone: The Prey is a short but awesome demo to give you a small taste of what the main game brings to the table. I went back to play the demo after beating Chronicles of Ericona because I enjoyed it so much and wanted to go after the no-hit achievements featured in this demo. It would have been awesome to have some no-hit boss related achievements in the main game as well, as that is what drew me back to experience the prequel story and face a few more bosses. Of course, the depth of this demo is just barely deep enough to get your toes wet in comparison, but it is nice to have a completely free way to check out the game and see how it plays. It was a fun time going after the speedrun achievement and mastering the bosses along the way!

Wizard of Wings is an awesome box puzzle style game where your main goal is to obtain the key in order to free the bird locked inside the cage. I’m a huge fan of puzzle games like these and I’m happy whenever I come across another one in the genre that my friend I can play through for game night. This game has simple controls that make maneuvering around the room smooth, transitions feel nice, and actions are responsive. There are four different rooms that each feature their own set of puzzle levels to solve as they increase very slightly with difficulty featuring more steps. The game is not hard by any means, some of the sliding puzzles gave me a difficult time but they usually do. I honestly loved all the different areas, the visual aesthetic of the game, and the background music featured. Of course, I would love for a sequel to be made or dlc added to give me more puzzles to solve. Well done Keycube, and thank you for the code to play it early!

The fantasy setting drew me in and Atlus did not disappoint! First ever turn-based game that I obtained all achievements for. Definitely going to have to check out the Persona and SMT games now! Metaphor’s story and cast of characters features tear jerking moments and a sense of accomplishment as you level your character up to unlock new abilities. There are highs in the story, there are lows, and the experience along the way really is what make this game special. With the king assassinated and turmoil brewing, you play as a traveling boy seeking a way to vanquish the curse that the, believed to be dead, prince is under. Unlock archetypes along the way using Royal Magic, and bring out the true potential of your allies to aid you in battle. Travel the land and across the ocean to gain the trust of the people and to unite the Kingdom of Euchronia. Personally, I loved the soundtrack especially the battle music. The story was amazing as you vie for lead spot in the Royal Tournament. And I am a huge fan of the calendar and travel system in this game. The missable achievements were fun to keep up with, and maxing out the character ranks to see a glimpse into everyone’s life was cool too. You have to play through the game a second time on NG+ on easy difficulty or higher to face a special late game boss tied to an achievement. If you’re a fan of JRPGs then this one is a must try, as it’s a GOTY contender for me personally!

Completely mind-blown how awesome this game is. Never played the original or the HD remaster, so experiencing the story and puzzles for the first time was just an absolutely awesome experience. Achieving all eight endings and finding all the collectables was a killer time…literally…and I’m so thankful I decided to play through this one. Bloober Team knocked this remake out of the park, the survival horror experience in this game is like no other. I love the combat, love the third-person camera angle, love the puzzles and level design…honestly, just super impressed with how cool the world is and how well it fits the overall story setting. There are so many factors that make a horror game good and I think Silent Hill 2 checks all of the boxes. You investigate a town named Silent Hill after receiving a mysterious letter from your late wife, where disturbing monsters and horrific tales await. Please give us more Silent Hill remakes, I’ll take anything I can get!

Run and gun, retro, shoot ‘em up, 2D platforming, arcade style game. What more could you want? Set in an apocalyptic future where a science experiment has gone terribly wrong. The Meat is after conquering not only Earth, but the Moon too. Grab your weapon and blast through a variety of gross enemies and even more terrifyingly cool bosses in nine levels of awesomeness. Unlock unique skins to do subsequent runs with, on either Medium or Hard difficulty. I played on Easy my first time through and recommend against playing on Easy. (it’s too easy) Seriously, if you’re into these types of games you won’t be disappointed, the platforming feels tight, the weapon variety is good, and the music gets your blood flowing. I wish there were even more missions to pound through, but I guess we’ll have to wait for Iron Meat 2. If you’re an achievement hunter, this is a great one to add to your collection as it’s not that difficult except for about one or two achievements. Really stoked I was able to get a review code for this one, much appreciated!

As many others have said, if you enjoy Ratchet & Clank, this is a must-play game! The price tag hits the mark for this one, and if you grab it on a sale even better. Being from an indie team, I think they captured the same feel of the more well-known titles while also bringing their own identity to Akimbot. I had a great time in this action platformer, and you can really tell the devs put a lot of thought and creativity into this one. You play as a robot named Exe paired with a side kick named Shipset, hired to help take out a super villain in hopes of saving the galaxy. The platforming is nice, the soundtrack hits just right, and the combat feels great. There are four guns to choose from that don’t use ammo, but instead have a charging meter so you find yourself constantly swapping them in battle to take out enemies. There are mini games you will constantly play when you hack things; such as the “shell game” and “snake” which keep the flow of the levels broken up to not seem monotonous. The ship flying levels were awesome, and I loved the tiny references to other games. Achievements are all easy to obtain, the time trial one probably being my favorite! Always have a great time playing through these types of games and I really hope we get a sequel in the future.
