When you follow Matt Wood on Twitter from CS:GO days and immediately buy his game because he's great. Coincidentally, the game is also great!

10/10 dialogue it made me chuckle to myself so often

What a shame. Game has been good over the years but I cannot support this developer after being so immature and disrespectful. I won't be buying any games from them in the future.

tl;dr
Thoroughly enjoying the game so far, makes some good improvements over previous iterations of the battle royale scenario. There are some issues but (for me) nothing game breaking. If you're interested in the game but don't have much money/decent system or you expect perfection from all your games then I'd hold off a month or two then reevaluate.

History
PLAYERUNKNOWN has been a staple name in the battle royale game mode for the past few years. I had some good times playing Battle Royale in Arma 2 and then again in Arma 3. IIRC he won an award in the Make Arma Not War competition in 2015(?). This guy knows what he's doing. Unlike some other early access games from relatively unknown devs, Brendan Greene has a good track record with this exact thing. He then worked with the H1Z1 team for a while as a consultant I believe on their KOTK mode before going out on his own.

Pro's

• Relatively easy on new players
  
• Satisfying af
  
• Fairly quick pacing
  
• Modding and custom game modes on the roadmap
  
• UE4 engine gives plenty of opportunity in terms of reliability and ease of use (esp. for modding in the future)
  
• Decent variety of weapons and customisation already

Con's

• IMO map is okay but I'd like to see another, perhaps smaller map with some more opportunities
  
• Not a huge variation in terms of buildings
  
• Colours look a little washed out overall

EARLY ACCESS SPECIFIC CON'S

• Optimisation is incoming (Part 1: ETA April)
  
• Limited range of servers currently (AU servers within a week, probably SA and maybe NA East/West, EU East/West)
  
• Main menu takes ages to load after every game???
  
• Can be laggy at times
  
• Sound could be improved
  
• Overall polish needed

I may add more above when I think of new things!

Other
I can see with the BP system and the containers that there is likely to be microtransactions and/or Steam Marketplace to buy (hopefully just) cosmetic items. This should in theory be fine - servers cost money to run after all - but I hope that nothing will give real benefits in games. I honestly doubt this would happen but the possibility is there. The same goes for DLC. I hope any potential DLC doesn't fracture the player-base as it could make finding games frustrating and boring.

RE:Performance - I have a 3770K, 16GB RAM and a 1070. I currently run it on high and comfortably hit 60 fps outside the larger towns.

Played it a little, not bad overall

Nice premise but that's all it is really. Everything is placeholder so there's very little in terms of content and mechanics.

Appears to be abandoned, nice waste of my money :))))
