Got this because it's free, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out to be. Nice little game with some clever puzzles (and some bizarre ones). Suitable soundtrack too.

Nifty little game. Good engaging story, some clever puzzles, great soundtrack and voice acting. The mood's real nice with the art and the music and all, overall an enjoyable experience.

The game is lovely, breathtaking art and soundtrack, great story, but it's not really keyboard/mouse friendly, the jump mechanics on keyboard are quite clunky. Better played with a controller.

Another screenshot simulator like Firewatch, except it is even less of a game and more of a narrated story. Pretty visuals, nice music and general mood. Excellent storytelling too, as elements from the protag's life are littered in the dream world, with associated memories. A nice short tale about loss.

It feels a bit stretched out even at 2hrs playtime, probably would be nicer if it were shorter - the game loses its pace in the final third. But overall, a nice experiential story with a surprisingly wholesome ending .

This is so, so good for a debut game! Good clean UX, lovely soundtrack, amazing art and storytelling, beautiful environment, commendable character movements. The controls are a little clunky sometimes, and the camera angle occasionally gets annoying. Otherwise a well-designed game. It is rather short however, so worth picking up if it's on sale.

A more forgiving sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, designed to make you enjoy the story more, and make better use of your cool new augs in a beautiful city with a dark underbelly of classism and corruption. A great Deus Ex experience.
- The new augs and the significant improvements in the HUD make this pretty awesome for stealth players, especially those aiming to finish the game with 0 kills and 0 alarms raised (I missed out on the latter because of 1 random alarm raised somewhere in the early game, fml).
- The storyline is average compared to original Deus Ex and Human Revolution, but the environment and subplots more than make up for it. It is a joy to explore Prague, a beautiful amalgamation of old school European and modern architecture, abundant in loot if you have the right augs, abundant in small stories if you enjoy exploring.
- Reminiscent of original Deus Ex in terms of environment and NPC content. The division between humans and augmented people is depicted really well, and is a strong allegory to divisive racism. Police brutality included.
- Lots of Square Enix easter eggs! <3
- Kind of like Revenge of the Sith, the final scenes of DX:MD put everyone in their respective positions so that the events of Deus Ex can begin to unfold, including Page, Everett, Illuminati, Silhouette etc. The usual suspects, Versalife, Tai Yong Medical and Belltower have narratives filled in. If you like the lore, this is a gold mine.
- Relatively limited story choices compared to Deus Ex, but each choice is curated and followed through well.
- Graphics are not visually overwhelming or unnecessarily flashy; lighting is excellent, as good as it gets pre-RTX.

Make sure you watch the credits.

Edit: New update has improved a lot. The shop is still wonky but the game is much more enjoyable.

The game is quite buggy, the shop never seems to function. And there's a large tirade of players leaving in the middle of the game.

Used be better, now the game is bloated, matchmaking is messed up, and there are very poor instruments in place for weeding out smurfs and toxic players. The devs focus more on money-making features and less on improving the player experience.

Nice interactive environment as is expected of the franchise. The storytelling is also quite on point. The game mechanics are a bit of an acquired taste, if you're doing a stealth runthrough, not killing anyone and raising no alarms. There are a couple of spots where you punch through a wall and automatically kill someone on the other side. :steamsad: These aside, a good gaming experience overall, with regards to visuals, gameplay, story.

As for the commentary, it's nice to go through the game and learn more about how each space was designed, how the characters were portrayed, how the makers delivered this dysto-cyberpunk experience. A great peek at game design.
