It's a bit rough around the edges (some typos/translation issues) but if you're even remotely interested in the world of Girls Frontline then you'll want to pick this up. The setting is pretty heavy alt-history with LOTS of lore dumps and background exposition if that's your kind of thing.

Gameplay wise, it's a perfectly serviceable tactics RPG with some pretty well thought out mechanics. The presentation is alright, it's not gonna blow your socks off like a Fire Emblem or XCOM would but it's 20 bucks so I'd say it's hard to go wrong.

I loved the original Helldivers game and I love this one too. It's incredibly well made with a lot of character and some great and satisfying combat. One thing I appreciate especially is the diving system, as well as the ragdolls from explosions. Always good for a laugh while also genuinely feeling really good to play.

I will say that the game can get punishingly difficult at even the upper mid range of difficulties but that could just be due to the pretty limited kit you get in the beginning of the game. The game really could use vehicles at some point too, traversing large maps with objectives on opposite ends can be a pain. Still there's a lot to love with the foundation here.

As far as matchmaking issues and crashes go, I can't speak for those because I haven't had any. I play in a pre-made squad and have an nvidia gpu and experienced 0 issues if only maybe slightly poor optimization. I was getting around 80-90 FPS on max settings with my RTX 3080.

If anything, just wait for them to patch up the launch issues and then pick the game up. It's a whole hell of a lot of fun.

Battlefield if DICE actually gave a ♥♥♥♥ about making good games anymore

It's the only actual hockey game you can play on Steam. It's even more fun with friends.

It reminds me a lot of the old NHL Hitz games, which I loved as a kid. It's still rough around the edges but the foundation is excellent, I'm looking forward to how they flesh out the game further.

If you're a fan of Ogre Battle from back in the day or even a fan of more contemporary Tactics-RPGs like Advanced Wars or Fire Emblem then you'll probably enjoy this. It's not a AAA level game in terms of production and design but it has a lot of charm and could be the start of something great if the devs continue to flesh it out further.

Gameplay is awesome, the most fun I've had playing a Halo game since Reach.

Unfortunately, the aggressive monetization and micro-transactions are overbearing and weigh down what would otherwise be a fantastic buy. Will change this review when they make it less predatory.

It's been a long 8 years...

It's another Ori game, what more do you need to know. GOTY for me and a soundtrack that lives up the original and in many ways exceeds it.
