this game is what happens when you have a banger idea for a story but dont think about the gameplay until the last second possible and frantically scramble to come up with something thats not a complete trainwreck

A game about rebelling against society's expectation and living your life as you want, not letting anyone tell you otherwise.
The characters, while not as well written as the preceeding game, have depth and fit the theme of the game in an excellent manner.
I adore the Phantom Thieves and how they all felt like a true group of friends who'd protect each other until the very end.
The final arc of the game, with the final Palace was my favorite part and Dr. Maruki was a great villain who I thouroughly enjoyed.
The gameplay was a high note, with fully developed locations, with incredible visual designs and tons of things to do, all of which not being possible to obtain on your initial playthrough, even if you try to do everything, giving the game incredible replay value.
The battles themselves felt engaging and satisfying (as long as I wasn't getting trashed by the random dungeon shadows) with the additions of Technicals, Baton Pass and the Showtime Attacks to the Persona battle system (along with the additional elements and Light and Darkness getting reworked) being of particular note.
The music is an excellent high note here, with some incredible tracks all throughout the game, ranging from simple daily life themes to the incredible and flashy battles of the Phantom Thieves in the Metaverse.
The early game admittedly was a bit slow, like most Persona games tend to be, and Mementos just being a new version of Tartarus felt unoriginal. Also, the final stage of the fighting game you can play in the Leblanc Attic was downright unfair in how precise it had to be (speaking as someone with no real experience with fighting games. Also, why did I need to use the d-pad for that, come on Atlus!)
Even despite those criticisms, the game is a solid 10/10.
