I have been wanting to play Greedfall for a while, ever since the initial trailer dropped that showed off the general "age of exploration + magic exists" theme it had going for it.

11 hours in- This game is not revolutionary. Let's get that out of the way. However, it does play with RPG and game tropes in some interesting and novel ways. It does certain things exceptionally well, and others not so much. (The teeth - why are the teeth so weird?) The story itself is exciting and mysterious, but some of the gameplay could have used a bit more polish. For example, there are a lot of hidden boundaries and invisible walls on the maps. It may have been too much to ask of a newer developer, but the ability to climb up buildings would have greatly improved some of the gameplay for more stealthy operations.

The maps themselves are gorgeous, and do make you want to explore them. It's like playing Dragon Age 1 with Skyrim graphics though.

At the end of the day, you will enjoy playing this game if you like RPGS where choices matter.
That, and firing a pistol and than shooting off a magic missile is oddly satisfying.

Between the endless fun that is stealth-killing orcs ad nauseum and the solid references to the lore, this is a must-buy for any Tolkien fan.

10/10 would kill orcs again and again and again.
