So I've done my share of "challenge runs" of the main game, am an accomplished Souls veteran, beat 'em all at level 1 etc, so I was pretty confident that if I didn't wanna steamroll the DLC with my 100% completion save file (at RL150 because that's the PvP meta) I should totally go into it in NG+3. "No problem!" I thought. "I'm no scrub, I don't need to git gud anymore" I thought.

Then I moseyed on over to the first boss (for me this was the Blackgaol Knight) with my FTH/ARC build and immediately got destroyed 67 times in a row.

10/10 would get humbled again.

Aged about as well as Rise of the Triad. Which is to say -- not very.

Worth playing to brush up on the classics though, it brought a few new ideas to the table that evolved the genre a bit.

And hey, it's free.

Don't sleep on this one -- it's mechanically sound, deceptively simple, and surprisingly deep. Everyone wants this to be the next Vampire Survivors and you know what? As long as the updates keep coming, I can see it happening.

Right now this is heavily lacking content but the framework and gameplay are pretty good so far.

Monetization isn't egregious and weapon progression feels steady even without the battle pass. Couldn't care less about cosmetics.

Gonna keep an eye on this one.

What is there to even say? It's RtCW, the greatest multiplayer game of all time, and a pretty decent SP game in its' own right.
I'm extremely biased, of course, but nothing has ever really come close from an overall "experience" point of view **IF you were there at the time**. This game was my Woodstock. The thing that made me "miss the good old days" now that I'm a middle-aged boomer. I even got a tattoo of the logo on my back. Big shoutout to my guys and gals at UDPviper -- the PREMIERE OLTL server of the time and the best damn forum ever. Miss you homies.

Recommended? Is this even a question?

I've been sitting on this for quite a while since early-early access, at the time there was only one Rundown (mission) which was insanely difficult and the only way to play with anyone else was by hitting up the Discord. So I decided it was too much effort at the time and walked away from it and totally forgot about it 'til I saw some streams of others playing recently.

I'm happy to say it has grown enormously and entirely for the better.

Very tense game, relies quite heavily on stealth and requires some pretty hardcore teamwork to fully enjoy, but in a pinch the bots will do if you order them around well enough and you're just trying to get to know the maps like I am right now (they are pretty damn confusing to start). The AI isn't amazing but I wouldn't say it's "stupid" either and with a bit of patience and planning it's manageable.

Many aspects of the game remind me a LOT of Alien Swarm (right down to the map screen upon which you can draw d!cks for everyone to see) -- except stealthier and it's obviously not an overhead twinstick shooter lol. I'm actually surprised that I haven't seen more people make that connection, .

So anyway, each Rundown your objectives get randomized a bit so you can't just sprint ahead knowing what to do and where to go right away, it seems like a decent way to keep things relatively fresh on repeat runs and minimize the effect that a large experience difference would have on your team, especially when playing with randoms. More experienced players can still carry you but they won't be able to just leave the newbies in the dust, which I appreciate, because I'm quite late to the party and there's a fairly high learning curve (not exactly Tarkov-level but quite high for a co-op title). Regarding that, the community seems pretty decent and helpful and I've seen far less stories of gamer rage than I was expecting from something like this where there is quite a heavy responsibility for your teammates' success placed on everyone's shoulders. If someone messes up even a little bit, the whole team suffers.

I'm a bit of a sucker for stealth and I enjoy the slower pace and soaking in the atmosphere of the game while I'm at it. It has a surprising amount of it, especially with the excellent audio design.

Definitely recommended if you're looking for something a bit more hardcore than the usual Co-op fare.

Overrated.

DOOM 2016 but with the annoying resource management cranked to 11 and loads of truly awful platforming sections.

Oh, and Denuvo.

Runs great though, digging the new raytracing update. idTech never disappoints.

(low playtime is because I finished it before it came to Steam)

--(update)--

Ok, so no Denuvo anymore, guess that's how long it's been. Should probably stop listing it on the store page as having it then. Not like the Beth account requirement is any better tbh.

transverse the map and not resort to making all levels feel like a single note, which give life in its multi layered dynamic.

I nearly had a stroke trying to read that just now.

Super simple and super satisfying. Makes the dopamine go BRRRRR.

Like many others I had to grab this after watching SplatterCat and Northernlion try it out and seeing the price tag. It's great to see the game blowing up like this, I just hope Konami don't get a stick up their butt about it if they catch wind of it. The sprite assets don't seem to be direct rips but they're very close to the originals.

100% recommended, it's great oldschool arcade fun.
