While on the short side, Firewatch's poignant story is quite an adventure. Simplistic, yet stunning visuals paired with an incredible soundtrack and ambient noise makes for an immersive experience. It's one of those games, where the more you immerse yourself in the story, the better the game becomes. If you just run through all the objectives and finish the game as quick as possible, it will probably feel like time wasted. As you get invested in the main character, you begin to connect with his emotions. Throughout the game, you get to experience the growing paranoia of the protagonist fueled by both his backstory and the things happening around him while his only connection to other human life is communicating to one single person through a radio. Every little thing you say, while doesn't have a major impact on the story line, changes the experience ever so slightly that makes you feel more and more immersed in what's happening, which is backed by the incredible voice acting.

If you enjoy immersive story-telling games, this one's for you, however, I do recommend picking it up when it's on sale.

If you're interested in the development of the game, I recommend playing through the game another time with the developer commentary, it's great.
