When I was a kid, this and Heroes of Might and Magic were the games that got me into computer gaming beyond Freecell and Minesweeper. I thought returning to it would prove it was a silly game with horrible graphics and it wouldn't live up, but wow, I actually am having an absolute BLAST playing this again. Of course the graphics aren't as good, but it doesn't really matter, it's fun to come back to it after all these years and find out I'm still spray and praying and trying to run through the level with 20 health left.

Also...I might give the Disney Star Wars stuff a hard time sometimes, but having been reminded of how the Death Star plans are stolen in this game's story, uh...I think this time Disney did it better, lol.

I just spent over two hours playing with a rowdy pack of dogs on an island as a character who decided while house sitting to just....open up business operations out of his buddy's backyard.

And I'll do it again, too.

I have come to terms recently with accepting that this is my favorite game of all time. Being able to play it easily from Steam brings me so much joy. That said, I will express my perplexion at there still being no singular definitive version of the game with all of the cut-scenes AND the new voice acting, but at least it's all available and present together.

I don't know if there's any game of this run time I've ever played this many times, and despite the fact that I do it the same way every time (MAKE ME A MONK ASAP) I never get tired of it.

There's just something about the game loop here that has the exact right amount of "just one more thing" to it that has me feeling a wee bit addicted. The narrative is nice, and the side quests and silly cameos are great for a chuckle or two. Honestly, I love these types of management games where there's just enough to do to keep you busy, but not too much that the experience is overwhelming.

If you like idle clickers that build into an eventual explosion of colors...this game's for you.

While the game does not tell you about the absolutely OP right click magic power, please believe me when I say, you'll absolutely just want to use the absolutely OP right click magic power. Just spam away to your hearts content, and almost all enemies will easily be defeated as they are trapped in your magic ring of death.

This game is a completely unfinished mess. There's a very cute art style here, hinting at a game that could be a lot of fun with WAY more time in development, and a lot more testing.

Did I complete the game? No. Because I got to a boss battle 20-minutes in, died, and was taken back to the beginning of the game. That was enough for me.

There are things about this game that are promising, but require quite a bit more promise. Tool-tips, or text on screen telling the player what buttons are responsible for which actions, for example. I spent most of the first half of my time playing just trying to figure out how to do most of the things the game asks of you. Even with using the tutorial, I felt like I was quite on my own.

Most of the game mechanics, I guessed at. Like what upgrades did for each building. Do they improve energy usage in the office? Do they speed up research (more on that later)? Do they improve the speed of healing. Intuitively, it seems like the answer to most of these is yes, but it would be quite nice to know for sure.

There are a few quality of life things that need to be addressed as well. For example, if you are on the Hooman management screen, which you will be for most of the gameplay, you can not see how much money you've earned. Thus, you don't know if you can upgrade a building/purchase a new building yet or not. Additionally, the music in the game is quite repetitive, and also, if there are two tracks of music available, which there seem to be, they often end up playing over each other.

Finally, at least for me, the game just didn't seem to work. I constantly had my research station manned, but for a month of game-time, nothing happened. It looks like maybe there is a meter in the upper left that should've been indicating research lab progress (again, tool tips would be handy here), but if that was what it was for, the bar on mine never filled.

All said, if this game worked as it was meant to, it's quite a challenging and interesting little city builder, with a story I wish I could have learned more about.

I love the quick start, and ease of launching a game. I'm not usually a big zombie game player, but what I love about this is the puzzle aspect of the turn-by-turn attack system. It feels less like a zombie shoot-'em-up, and more of a logic problem, as you decide what resources to prioritize, moves to take, and if you can get a sweet, sweet road kill.

Early Access Review
This game feels so wrong, and yet...if Froguelike is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Cute in concept, but needs a lot of work before it's finalized. At the very least, clearer menus to start. I guessed that hitting escape would eventually get me back to the shop, and was right. There was no clear explanation for the leveling system, nor for purchasing new monsters. On that note, it also wasn't clear what the abilities did, outside of being power attacks.

Still, it was a cute game and I could see myself being interested in it if some changes were made.
