A very smooth, polished and intriguing port (and partial remake) of the original Submachine Flash games. If you enjoyed the Flash version, you'll enjoy this too. The ending can be quite cathartic.

Why would you add EAC to a game that you won't even attempt to add QoL improvements modders have been adding for years now? This feels like a slap in the face. 0/10. Uninstalling.

VERY fun to play. Good for cardio, as it turns out! The songs are pretty fun to play, but if it's not up to your standards, you can have custom songs too!
Pro-tip from the Steam guide: Adjust the latency if you keep missing the notes! Turn on the "View Latency" option in Advanced menu, then try adjusting the value based on that.

At first, I compared myself to someone who clearly played this game much, much longer than I did. I watched those videos of people playing it and doing various flips between notes and whatnot. It did numbers on my self-esteem. I was reluctant to try this game, but I decided to try it anyway. IT WAS FUN. I was bad at it, but it was fun!
Hey, if you are reading this and you are worried if you won't be able to enjoy this game:
Don't be ashamed! Turn on the No Fail mode and just enjoy the game! If the song is too fast, try the Training mode and set the speed slower! When you are confident about your score, increase the speed! After you've trained yourself sufficiently, try the normal mode!
Remember that in the end, this is all about fun and challenges you impose on yourself, not stress. Don't like walls? Turn it off! Wished the song was faster? Make it faster! It's all up to you. Don't be like me. Don't berate yourself. You don't need this kind of negativity in your life! Have fun in your life for once! It's your chance. Seize this opportunity. Get this game, hop in, and enjoy. You're in control. 100/100.

It's pretty good. For me it had a steep learning curve, but playing other characters certainly helped with that. Not to mention, it has good replay value.

Early Access Review
The game was an insta-buy for me. I like the little details this game has, as well as its various types of terrains and honestly addictive gameplay loop -- it is a little rough around the edges, but I do recommend this game for people who like going around and venturing into the unknown.
Though, I'd like an option to build a custom map (hub map, perhaps) or have a map selector I can use to replay the mission. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

Despite people saying this game is not as good as they thought, this game is not bad!
I really enjoyed playing this game, despite its issues (see Issues section)

Pros:
  • Runs on any computer capable of DirectX9
  • Pretty great story and gameplay
  • Unique elements
  • Hours and hours of content
  • Lots of choices when playing the game
  • Quests and mechanics are decent
  • DLCs are not a bunch of crap boxed with a price tag of $14.99
  • Decent choices of gameplay, action-wise

Cons:
  • No support, developer went out of business eons ago
  • EA server authentication thing still exists
  • No mods
  • Community ran out of steam years ago, no community support either
  • Some functions and quests are bugged
  • Repetitive quests
  • Unless you get the DLC, you might miss out on many things

Issues:
  • Bugs carry onto future saves
  • If you get stuck, you have to load older saves, losing current progress
  • If, by any chance, there are more than 12 arrows loaded, it will continuously play the sound
  • In some rare cases, you might get stuck between objects

To sum it up: Give this game a try, you might like it.

Pros:
  • Beautiful graphic
  • Good sound effects
  • Good voice acting
  • Nice modeling
  • "Good enough" options on menu
  • Silly but fun gameplay
  • Nice redition of old game, without that GFWL plague

Cons:
  • Takes up about 32GB of RAM for some reason Minimum specs and recommended specs shown are incorrect
  • Constant crashing due to above problem
  • Not quite good enough for $50, in my opinion
  • DLC is silly and feels incomplete
  • Short story
  • Technical problems
  • 4K resolution sounds like a marketting gimmick

It's fun. It's hilarious. It's like olden-time Doom. Definitely has room for improvement.
I really enjoyed playing this game - It was silky smooth and never crashed with 16GB RAM. (It did, however, on 8GB)
The selection of weapons were okay, the mechanics were innovative for me and despite it having no mouse controls for in-game menus it was quite intuitive and easy to navigate.

Please, make a sequel instead of focusing on remasters. I'd really like to see a sequel!
Don't let this franchise die! It just has so much potential, it's just not shown here. I'd be really sad if you guys dump it like nothing.

But unfortunately...
At this price range and with all that problems, I can't recommend this game. I'm sorry.

p.s. You really do need at least 12GB of RAM. Otherwise, it will just crash your computer.

EDIT: Review updated to add gameplay opinions as the issues have been resolved

Good game. Plus, it's open-source too! Though, if I was the developer, I'd consider updating the GitHub repo.

(According to SteamDB, there were some trading cards. I don't think it's a bug though.)
