Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a decent platforming collect-a-thon with a set of main story missions and side-story missions I would call on-par with the first game, albeit shorter. While the game has a lot of generic time trials and slightly varied delivery missions (as well as user-generated runs), there isn't a lot of reward for doing them outside of some cosmetic profile icon, and I didn't find there was enough main and side story content to drip-feed through a 100% completion of the game.

There's a skill system to unlock abilities like rolling, spring-coiling, and more advanced stuff like the mag hook. Do what I did and save your points for movement upgrades, everything else is pretty much optional or is obtained through the main quest. XP is very easy to come by, just start a police chase if you're in desperate need of more points.

The combat has not improved much from the first game. Do not expect to find enemies that parkour behind you to give chase like those elite parkourist guys you see from the first game. For better or worse, you reach a point about 2/3s of the way through the game where you can kill enemies very quickly by spamming heavy attacks and the two combo moves that exist.

Atmosphere wise, the game looks fantastic and sounds pretty good. Some people don't like the far-future direction MEC ended up taking and prefer the more grounded look and feel of the first game, but both games look great and MEC just has more to show on the same threshold of quality. My only complaint is they dropped the first game's title theme.

Overall, I'd say wait for a sale. I got this game 75% off, I think it was well worth $5.

look so basically it kind of goes like this, okay, so, uhhhhhhhh, what we have of here is sort of kind of like a, like, you know where with video games you have that thing where, like, the person does like a uhhhhhhh...you know? its kind of like that. but a lot more of that! the good parts of those, i mean! it does, like, what a lot of other video games fail to do, or it just does the good stuff a lot better for games that you would fit alongside this game, right? its really good at what it does, really really good at that. so good game, it isnt omn the epic store (super bonus points for that one computer game dev keep it up0 and overall, great game! five stars out of a possible five stars!
