Alien Swarm via Planetside 2, but hang a quick left at Magicka.

Effectively the 9th stage in the evolution of fan-service and virtual art installations. Take some time to appreciate it - and appreciate the fact that it even exists at all.

For heaven's sake, if you loved Bullfrog's Populous series throughout the 1990s you absolutely must try this. It's a faithful adaptation of the original; essentially a fan remake for modern PCs.

Kinda like that bit from Starfox on the SNES. Recommend, not least because it's free today (30th July). Pick it up NOW.

The original and best, though Call of Pripyat gives some stiff competition. Be sure to pick up the Stalker Complete add-on from http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/ for graphical improvements and bug fixes. Get stuck in and you'll not find a more atmospheric and engrossing experience than that of the STALKER series.
