Quake is what started it all. Quake III was the first game that I purchased to play over the Internet with people. It was released in 1999 and it is still around today as Quake Live, which proves that old can be better than new. You might read many bad reviews, but please know that many of these were due to the changes from a stand-alone game to Steam. Unfortuantely, many people do not like change, and this was a big one. HOWEVER, the change was for the best in my opinion. Quake Live has gained custom maps, voice chat, dedicated player servers, steam interaction, etc. Quite honestly, this was the best thing for Quake Live as we now have a game that is in the most active PC platform.
