There have been several Dark Souls clones throughout the years. Some good, some bad... or nah, mostly bad.

But Lies of P is different. It is pretty good. The combat is addictive, the visuals remind me of Bloodborne and yet, it keeps an original setting and mood that does not get tiresome. I have only played a couple of hours and yet I find myself intrested for the long term. The fact that you can customize and build and combine your own weapon makes the game diverse and interesting.

GOTY? Not really but it is definitely on my top 5 games of the year.

I have never really enjoyed Dark Souls or any "Souls-like" game. Mainly because of the linear progression that these game have.

However, with Elden Ring - the open world structure of the game has enabled the players to explore and solve problems with what they want, how they want and when they want. Fighting a boss that is too tough? Come back to it later, or solve it with different tactics that you can decide and don't feel ashame for.

What I really enjoy with Elden Ring is the fact that it puts you in control of specialising your characther, changing ways of defeating a boss in a way that fits your playstyle. But the best thing is just exploring the vast world.

Despite all of that - I hate that there are no journals or logs. The game forces me, more than often (and against my wishes) to check on Elden Ring Wikis to get an idea of the quest progression, especially since there are a bunch of NPC quests.

Oh and From Software, please release a lore book or novel so that I can read on what the fudge happened in the world.

Overall, Elden Ring is my GoTY and probably one of my favourite games ever.

A must have for bullet hell fans! Amazing graphics, great control and just addictive fun. Reminds me so much of Don Don Pachi and even though DDP is one of the best shooters of all time, Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION is close to perfection.

9.5/10
