i could have put this game in any steam award category, really. it doesn't look like much on the surface, its hard to explain, its a wordy adventure game where you have to click on everything you can to progress (and theres a lot of things you can click on), and on some days its all i can think about.

ive played the ending scenes about 10 times now, and every time it makes me tear up. its a really powerful, emotionally resonant game. everyone should play it

everyone's played mono but i feel pusher is where the game really shines. it's more complex then mono but still simple enough so i can keep on top of things even in the busier songs. it's always been on of my favorite ways to listen to new music. if your only experience with audiosurf is playing mono, you've missed out on a lot!

it doesn't have enough sense of progression to be a good puzzle game. even just a pittance 'you solved 100 pieces' achievement would have been something

it doesn't look good enough and is too simple to be a fun little relaxing toy.

the music's pretty nice. go listen to that for free on bandcamp if you want to relax instead of buying this game

regardless of what you say, narrator, that blob of void is not a he

how could you

---

this is where steam's binary 'do you recommend this' metric fails for me since it has too many flaws to be a no questions asked buy but i wouldn't completely write it off.

the balance is weird, with the main campaign being very easy and feeling like an extended tutorial at times, while the new game plus 'void mode' is basically impossible (i never got past the first screen). i love games with narrators, but the narrator is second rate and better as text than as a voice. the asthethic and feel of this game is really good (those monsters <3) , but the art assets themselves are pretty mediocre, feeling a little too 'default photoshop brush' fuzzy around the edges. i wrote this review like 3 months after i finished the game so i don't remember the ending all that well, whoops!

still, i enjoyed playing this game and am interested in what this dev does next

really cute adventure game that tells a nice story. dialog centric, with some good voice acting.

what else could you ask for?

needs a couple more patches, though
