Easily my fave VR game

I bought this game quite a while ago after seeing it mentioned by everyone in every post of 'Im new to VR, what games should I buy first". Based on some random screenshots it looked like any other low quality VR title, simple graphics, simple gameplay but it was fairly cheap so if everyone was wrong I could just refund it. After first few minutes I already know that people are actually right!

Together with Alyx, Super HOT VR and few other titles it was one of my first purchases made right after getting my first VR headset, and now after few months later it turns out it's the only game I kept playing regularly, even bought every DLC there is. While for example Alyx is great tech demo and real triple-A game, it's one of those games you play once and that's it, but sport games like Walkabout are great titles to jump in any time to play whatever amount of time you feel like, and you can never really finish it. On top of that over time you get better which feels nice especially since theres multiplayer. Money/playtime-fun ratio is the highest among all VR titles.

More about the game though…
First of all pricing is extremely consumer friendly. Base game is really cheap (especially compared to other VR titles that are much more expensive while being a lot worse) and you get the base with some courses. Now, every other world is available as DLC for something like 3 dollars. This means you can pay as much as you feel like to have only the content you feel worth the money. Maybe you like game just a bit and are willing to spend 6 dollars? Or maybe you love it enough to buy every single DLC? Choice is yours.

Now to the game!
Starting with visuals, most pictures are from the most basic, first map that does indeed look just okay, but basically every other world in the game looks beautiful, some are absolutely stunning. Based on podcast with one of the developers, it's mostly because of going for amount of details over textures, and they got some rules about distance between things. It all works great, simple artstyle is pretty and every world has unique vibe and atmosphere, some making an excellent use of the low poly visuals. For me it’s more than just a background for the minigolf course though, some places like Gardens of the Babilon are just really nice places to be in (VR) and I love spending time there.
As of sound, the one made by hitting the ball is fantastic, everything is fine. There's even some music but I got it muted.

Gameplay is surprisingly not just all about minigolf so lets start with everything else - every world has 18 unique balls that you can find, and so called fox-hunt which is getting clues and based on them finding things, completing it gives you a new putter. When I bought a bundle of every DLC available I started doing those first, meaning there was few times when I started this MINIGOLF game and spent good hours doing everything but MINIGOLF! Both activities are pretty fun and add value to DLCs. Minigolf itself though, physics is pretty much perfect, havent seen any glitches, bugs or even physics acting weird. The quality of courses (new gameplay mechanics, making use of minigolf basics etc.) is pretty good across all of the content released to date, but obviously some are better than the others. Overall thanks to the game being sport, so skill oriented you can always play more and more of the same while having fun of getting better at it.

Besides great single player experience there’s online multiplayer, avatar customization and training range. All in all the amount of content is really good, especially for the pretty low price.
