Only 11 hours in and I can already tell you it's the new Garry's Mod. But with a campaign that is actually fun and rewarding (and a bit stressful-- looking at you gunship missions). Well worth the buy for the price and especially once you factor in the ever-growing Workshop support which adds limitless replayability (and a Physgun. Told you it's the new Garry's Mod).

I discovered this game one day browsing a sale somewhere. The artwork looked nice, and when I read some reviews, one of the unanimous things said about the game was how incredible the OST was. A lover of music, I gave a quick search on YouTube of "Highway Blossoms soundtrack" and clicked on the first song that came up: "Eleven" by Smoke Thief. It was one of the most beautiful instrumental songs I had ever heard. I bought the game immediately after that. Let me say that I was never disappointed about my purchase.

The artwork is fantastic. The scenes are beautifully well done, and the character design is simple but appealing.
The soundtrack is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. Some of the songs carry an emotional weight to them now that I can never forget them.
Speaking of emotional weight, the story is quite good, and it definitely packs a punch emotionally. It's a simple premise for a story, but it is made so much more by the characters and the funny/cute/realistic dialogue between them. When "Eleven" came on for the first time in the game, a song that I had fallen in love with before I had even played the game, it was the perfect fit for its place in the story. I'll never forget the moment that I heard that familiar song and the emotions of the story that it was coupled with.

Highway Blossoms is an unforgettable game. It's story is incredible, and the fact that it's (in simple terms) a lesbian romance with an H-patch shouldn't take away from that. I've never played the game with the H-patch. The game is probably better without it. Highway Blossoms isn't a game about getting turned on, it's a game about laughing, crying, and maybe even yelling at the screen in frustration as you travel along a beautiful journey.

No other game captures the intensity, speed, and genuine fear of rally racing like Dirt Rally 2.0 does. Even in other sim racing games I have never felt like I was going faster than I was comfortable with. Here, there have been countless moments where I'm tearing down a straight stretch of dirt road, feeling the bumps and just rolled of the throttle because I felt that if I didn't, I wasn't going to be able to stop myself from crashing.

I wish all racing games could be this immersive, and push you to the limits of what you think you are actually capable of, even if you know that you're just looking at a computer screen.

My honest review:

Yeah, it's a slow game. I don't imagine there will be many moments of amazement or excitement. But that doesn't mean this is a bad game. In fact, it's a great one. It's meticulously detailed in its recreation of its machinery, the modding community is huge, and it has built in multiplayer. Even if you only play it solo, it's a great game to unwind with, or play while watching a TV show or movie.

Early Access Review
A game that allows nearly unlimited possibilities in driving simulation, with a growing community of modders providing quality content. The developers are active and continuing to add more to the game, and there are many exciting new things on the way. The physics are great and the crash simulation is probably the best in the gaming industy. While the game may take a more powerful PC to run, it is completely worth it. This game will receive unending support and recommendation from me.

If you think you won't cry, you are wrong. Or have no heart. This is the only game that has ever made me cry for 20 minutes straight.

Play at your own risk (and expense of tissues)
