I feel like when people hear the term "Stand-type game", they immediately think that its just a fancy way of calling it a walking simulator, which when you strip away the core goal of the game, then sure? But what it really means when you play it, its how you connect with other people. You can't see these people but you can feel them. You can click a button where Sam calls out and a response comes, when you build structures they appear to other players, along with their structures to you. This is what "stand-type" means, the connects you make with people even if its not direct, they're real and its makes your contributions to this world important. This is also the central theme of the game, the connects we make with people.

The game is split into a very easy to understand three part structure. Even if the game is split between many "episodes", the game really follows three parts which are represented through the three main locations you will eventually to go. The second, and biggest, is one of the most imaginative playgrounds I've experienced in a game. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it doesn't feel like an extension of yourself. Most games worlds are directly reacting to how the player character moves and jumps around, like with Mario in Bomb Omb Battlefield, or with Red Dead 2 where the game world is easy to traverse with a horse. But with Death Stranding, even as the world becomes more and more actively hostile to humans, you are provided with more than enough tools to make your own way forward. Roads, zip-lines, bikes, trucks, etc. It really depends on how creative *you* are in using these tools. Although, its not perfect, the physics can be really weird sometimes and its easy to get your bike stuck on a pebble. Besides this, its great, I love how it encourages plays not only to be smart with how they do deliveries, but also to be conscious about the other players they will be affecting, which again, ties in into the themes of the game.

Speaking of which, I'm not going to talk specifics because chances are that if your reading this review, you've haven't played this game yet, but I have a handful of gripes about the story, especially at the end. Its not that its entirely bad or that I didn't get it, but I just felt like a complete mess sometimes and I personally think that the story would've been slightly more interesting if we knew less about the Death Stranding. Everyone just explains everything and I want to think about these things! Let me be confused! Not everything needs a direct answer! Even then most of the events in the late game barley even stick with the central theme of the game and just goes wacky sci-fi mode. The second to last chapter of the game was excruciating to say the least but the final chapter was pretty great.

Overall, very good game. Great gameplay, mess of a story, 8/10

Although this is a incredibly fun game, that doesn't excuse the poor performance. I would recommend getting this game on console if you cannot handle near constant freezes.
