Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an excellent cyberpunk adventure that blends 'action', 'stealth', and 'rpg' elements almost like clockwork. It features an intriguing story (some of my favourite genre beats of trans-humanism, corporate greed, espionage, etc.) that is coupled with its smooth and rather intuitive gameplay, alongside its vibrant graphics and unique art style.

HR provides players the option of playing from a 'stealth', 'shooter', or 'hacker' perspective, all of which contribute to its replayability. There are also several choices spread throughout the game that seemingly affect the story, but most of these really just add some flavor to the narrative rather than changing it in any significant degree.

While HR does boasts some pretty good graphics, its graphical fidelity alone does appear outdated, especially when compared to several modern day titles. However, I believe it more than makes up for this with its visually distinctive art direction (even within the cyberpunk space, and the previous entries in the Deus Ex series) - one that I would describe as a visual amalgamation of sharp angles and glossy carbon fibre, basked in shades of golden hues and black shadows. Its colour palette is very much inspired by Italian Renaissance art, and this certainly gives its setting and atmosphere an elegant flair.

HR delivers some decent audio and sound effects, although some of the sounds do feel muffled at times and could have been improved in clarity. The soundtrack though, is quite stellar - beautiful ambient music, and a good fusion of organic sounds and electronic synth beats that always expresses the environment being presented.

Overall, I think Deus Ex: Human Revolution serves as a good narrative prequel to the original game, and makes for a fine new addition to the Deus Ex series as a whole.
