I honestly don't know why this game is so addicting, but it really is. When I pipck it up again, I'll play for hours each day. It's hard to put down. My theory is that it scratches the same kill -> loot -> return itch that Fallout 4 and 76 hit, but there's probably more to it.

That said, it's been in alpha for nearly a decade and performance ranges from pretty good to literal slideshow during horde nights, which are every 7 days. I've tried lowering graphics and getting performance mods, but at some point you have to blame the game when your 2070 is struggling to render 12 zombies at once at an acceptable framerate.

The only major complaint I have is that everything is *so ridiculously slow.* There's more downtime than uptime in this game and after a certain point I feel like the game stage is outpacing me because I'm just getting levels and perks so slowly. I download mods to speed up XP/perk gain and increase inventory size so there's less grinding and running back and forth between one or two locations and my home base.

I still recommend it. Despite its flaws, it's still really fun, even more so with friends (though that goes for pretty much any multiplayer game).
