I think the time has come to update my review for this game. Before, I left a small review with limited information.

This game is by far my favorite game, that being said, it is not a perfect game. There are issues I have with it, that I would change if I had any say in the matter.

To start, this game is well thought out, and put together. Every mechanic and detail of the game has been thought out, and a lot of effort put into it, and quite frankly, it's just beautiful to see the galaxy on a 1:1 scale. Exploration has many wonderful sights to see, and many systems that have been unexplored, and I hope to get more into that feature of the game as I continue on. Combat may seem kind of slow, but is well simulated, as larger ships are much harder to kill then the smaller ships, and with the right weapons and utilities, I wouldn't doubt that anything is possible. The commodity market is always changing, making trade difficult, but well simulated, and interesting itself.

This game is so open world, it can be overwhelming because it gives you no direction or purpose in what to do. You literally do anything you want, whether pirating, or bounty hunting, trade or mining, exploring, or even xeno-hunting. You just have to learn how to do it. You can fly with friends in a wing, or multi-crew, or even help one of the galactic powers grow. It's all up to you.

The learning curve of the game, may be difficult, but I find it is one of things I enjoyed most about the game, and I wish I could experience learning it all again.

The big topics of the game seem to be hacking, and fleet carriers (more specifically upkeep on fleet carriers).
Hacking is a problem, that needs to be solved. In the meantime, if you run into someone who is hacking, just leave the game and go to group or solo play for a bit. As for the fleet carriers, I am indifferent about them. I will be getting one eventually, but I think I want to wait and see exactly where they go with them first. I'm not opposed to upkeep, but I understand the backlash from the community on it as well.

What I feel the game really needs, is more ways to draw people in. Something interactive. I liked the idea of close quarter combat, but they didn't really do much with it, and it needs some improvements as it is. The Galnet was a part of the game that I always tried to stay up to date on, as it hinted to lore and upcoming updates. It's something I hope to see return. Part of Powerplay was supposed to allow for the start of new powers, but I have seen maybe one new power since, it was initially put into the game in 2015.

Overall, I really enjoy the game. They are releasing their next update at the end of the year, which is supposed to be their biggest update yet, and I am excited to see what is coming with that update. The game is always changing, and as it does, it constantly gets better.

I recommend playing it, but understand it isn't going to be like most games. You are not the God of the galaxy, just a small part of it. Nothing you do has any real significance to the galaxy. It takes time and work. You have to get out and try different things to find what you love to do in the game. It takes a kind of dedication to get far in the game. Because of that, I understand it isn't for everyone, but it is definitely worth trying.
