Nostalgia tells me thumbs up and 4/5
Sadly, it's barely worthy of 3/5
I enjoyed the first half of the game with as much enthusiasm as the anime. It's incredibly fun to relive the DBZ sagas with your own hands. The open world exploration is simple, but just fun enough to push you to want to 100% the game. I have yet to get in vehicle building or the dlc, but have completed the main game with a few achievements to go, all in all, around 50 hours.
I purchased this game on Steam instead of Xbox thinking I would have better video and optimization options. I was sorely mistaken. This game is a bad console port, with minimal settings and horrible mouse and keyboard optimization. There's a constant glow coming from the sun that washes out the game. There are ways to fix that in the .ini file, but how many kids are looking that up. One thing that hindered the immersion was the lack of voice acting at times. Even the main characters have many instances where they're grunting at each other as you click through reading their dialogue. I was still interested in the game going into the Buu Saga. There seemed to be a sudden increase in cut scenes, most of which you have to click through the dialogue yourself (sounds insignificant, but it gets extremely annoying). Cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight. This switch to a more cinematic theme, with minimal story explanation eradicated the small amount of RPG that was left in the game. I understand there's post game content and endless training, but I missed the open world freedom I had in the beginning, and felt rushed through the end of the game.
A fun, nostalgic experience that I will complete soon. Just extremely let down by the lack of customization options, poor graphic quality for pc, and the lack of voice acting throughout. Could have been done better, but I loved replaying my favorite childhood anime; so there's that.
