With the decision to include EAC and blanket banning mods, which some rely on for accessibility is a horrible choice. This won't stop crashers from crashing people. Modding gave the community tools to use against crashing and features VRChat has yet to implement. It's time to drop VrChat and find a new social VR platform.

Mid play-through review

Intro-
The Survivalists is a fun, indirect sequel to The Escapists series, that introduces new gameplay.
You can form an army of monkey minions to do your bidding. They can do your crafting, gathering, fighting, etc. all while you relax trying to find your way off these islands back to civilization.

Tid bits-
While I personally enjoy this game in single player and in co-op, it does have some issues that I had hoped would have been fixed since the demo release.
Which unfortunately, makes me feel like they will just release a sequel to this game that will 'fix' the issues with the first game, instead of applying them to this one.
The game is really easy to progress through, and even easier when you bring a friend with you.

The issues-
1. No real task system for monkeys.
If you save and reload the monkeys, they forget everything they were doing. So you have to teach them how to do it again. This makes monkeys tedious between play sessions.
My solution would be to add a list of tasks that the monkey has learned that you can select from.

2. Game is too easy.
This game is a breeze compared to something like DST (Don't Starve Together). This is partly due to not having to do much once you get your monkeys all trained up and doing tasks for you.
Monkeys should require some form of upkeep (minus having to set them up every play session).
Maybe they need to be fed every so often, otherwise they won't work or work slower.
When you start to play with friends in this game, it doesn't get harder - only easier. Maybe add difficulty options like monkey perma-death or harder mobs when friends are playing.
Resources feel too plentiful. I feel I could open a business here and run it with how often the world gets renewed.
You only need to explore to find where resources are, then just go back for them once they are renewed. It really takes away the need to explore past a certain point in the early game.

3. The bugs that are present currently.
Personal chest being voided if it was in the hands of a monkey during a save.
(While you can get it back by joining a multiplayer game and rejoining your world to get it back, it's still an annoyance.)
Monkeys not remembering what they've been taught between play sessions.
Losing palm leaf bowls. (Honestly not sure if this is intended.)
Infinite crafting, my monkey has been crafting unlimited hinges only at the cost of the tool needed to craft them while I'm typing this currently. (Trying to figure out how to reproduce so I can report it.)

4. Not being able to place thing on side walls.
I understand not being able to place items on side walls but torches are placed above. Why can't we stick torches on side walls?

5.Make blueprints rotatable!

Conclusion-
I recommend this game but, I just hope they continue to update this game and improve it after release. I'd hate to see them just move on to a sequel for fixes.

TL;DR
1.Fix bugs
2.Add task list for monkeys
3.Add difficulty settings
4.More versatility with building

Game used to be good with 5 player survival, but devs got lazy and couldn't balance the game around 5 and cheaped out and lowered the game down to 3 player survival. At this time I cannot recommend the game until they increase the survival back to 5 players. Aside from that its a decent game.
