Ready or Not returns to the, seemingly, dead genre of commander/team based shooters, and does the concept well. The only issues I have had, have been with the command system, squad members, and grading system.

You could chalk this up to an issue with my own play-style, but I noticed the command system will switch randomly when looking in specific areas. It also requires you to be annoyingly close to areas you want your men to stack.

Speaking of your men, I found certain animations to be really slow, like when your squad member opens a door and throws a flash. He always ends up being shot in the face, despite that being the stealthier option. You're almost always better off selecting the "kick" or "shotgun" the door and clear options. Squad grenade throw distance can also be improved, as I notice they usually throw very weak, and at awkward angles. On a minor note, i've also sometimes noticed red or blue run to random locations, after direct commands.

The grading system is fine for the most part, but everybody shot and incapacitated seems to register as "death" on the score. A little bit of randomness wouldn't hurt.

Regardless of my few complaints, this game gets a recommend solely on how polished and replay-able the game is, and how it doesn't compromise in what it tries to present. Developers and publishers don't have balls anymore (in lots of ways), and don't attempt to make anything considered "unsafe" because they're projected by non-gamers as "unprofitable". Glad VOID went self published with this, and I look forward to the future with this product.

The game is very confused. My major gripes with this are the stealth mechanics, some writing, and the game's identity.

For one, don't listen to people saying this is like fear. This is only fear in mechanics alone, and stealth may as well not exist. You can take out those lights, and hide in the shadows, but 99% of the time you'll be detected somehow and die trying to be sneaky. Cloaking is ridiculously short too, and frustrating, since your meter is instantly depleted at any point you deactivate it. Both cool features just seem wasted.

Gamplay aside, the writing is pretty bad. The f*ck word does not make your characters sound cool or threatening when its used 5000 times in a 30 second dialogue exchange between two characters. Almost every character sounds like how I would've thought soldiers talked when I was playing with legos as a kid.

Last thing is the game's identity. It's inconsistent. It felt as if the devs liked a bunch of different "things" and mushed them together. Going from something like dead space, to blood, felt like whiplash. The most blatant example of this was the use of "the backrooms" for a horror segment. It really cheapened the experience, and makes it feel like a tech-demo.

Besides those issues I had, I'm giving it a thumbs up. The FPS gameplay was enjoyable, and other things like (stealthless) enemy interactions felt good (same can also be said for the grunts dialog interactions). For the whole game, you feel in control of any situation you're put in; you can take on anything. So if you're looking for a FPS with satisfying combat, this will probably do you well; If you're looking for a FPS with something deeper, (story, characters, situational approaches in gameplay) I would say look somewhere else.

Seeing some thousands of players who've dumped thousands of hours of their lives into this game, now being unable to sneed since EAC was added, is a real sight to behold. I only have this game to thank for the laughs, so for that alone, it gets my recommendation.

I've had a lot of fun learning and working with SFM in the last and current year. For new people, it may seem intimidating, but I promise you it's easy if you take your time and go at your own pace. There is also some jank and crust obviously with SFM being pretty old, but once you understand SFM, there's a lot of value to be gained. If you have the time it's worth starting, because we know how valuable the practice of 3D animation has become these days. (also make sure to use the clavicle for posters, not a lot of people use them for some reason, and it makes poses more expressive)

The game is rough around the edges (haha) sometimes, and janky, but always ends up being a pretty fun experience. I recommend this based on the combat, and recommend it even more with the dungeon crawler campaign and the dedicated workshop community. (Here's to hoping for VR capability in the future)

Not many games give me a dopamine rush anymore, or the real feeling of pain after dying a thousand times in a span of 2 minutes; but, this game does. So if you want to feel like you've just jerked off twenty times in a row in the span of 10 minutes, to the worst porn you consume, I give this game a recommend!

But seriously, this game is fun. It does require a lot of trial and error, and studying. If you like terraria, or games where you can become a god over time, I would recommend it.
