I wish Steam had a middle review button but I think this is sadly gonna be a downvote for me.

TL;DR: You have to play games with higher ranked players to have more than three moves, and the player base is too small to find people who are around your rank

The game is FUN. The community is great. But this has two fundamental problems that really have a bad, ugly synergy.

#1: You start with only THREE moves and have to work for the rest of them.

Why? I can understand working for "alternate" versions of each move, like a version of the move that is weaker and stronger in a different way. But it doesn't work like this. You literally are locked out of a bunch of moves for beginning the game. This makes it so when you go into a higher rank match with another player, they will not only be more skilled at the game than you, but you LITERALLY have less tools to fight them with simply because they play the game more.

"Bro, just play with people your rank!"

This is where the terrible synergy awakens and makes this problem worse.

#2: This game's playerbase is small. Very small.

As it stands right now, I tried playing yesterday at about 5-6:00 PM EST and I saw only 8 other people on the East Coast. About 8 on the west coast as well, and it dipped to about TWO other people at one point.

This is extremely small. And I wouldn't mind that honestly, as I could simply go looking for people to play with manually, but BECAUSE YOU ARE LOCKED OUT OF THE OTHER MOVES you have two bad choices:

-Play with people who are higher rank and get steamrolled to grind moves
-Wait a LONG time, possibly never, for someone who is your rank for a fair fight

I love this game. It's got great combat, very unique PVP, that I would love to enjoy.
But no other game makes me grind for things. Pavlov doesn't make you work for weapons, B&S doesn't make you work for weapons & spells, that's just bad execution.

Unlock all of the moves from the gate, and let people work for alternate versions of those moves, or skins, or whatever.

Perfect game, just wish I could unlock everything faster

It's a pretty good game, but just remember to try and get it during sales
