Oh...Elden Ring.....

It's a FromSoft game, so go in expecting as much. Very good, crafting was neat, world is quite large. I often find I'm turning corners for a "quick trip" only to discover entire new giant sections of map. Some performance issues here and there, but nothing game-breaking. All in all, good game, well worth the wait.

The factory must grow. You'll spend countless hours in this game, probably most of it spent tearing down and re-building everything. You'll start with a reasonable time-goal in mind, say play at 9pm for an hour or so. You play, but you want to automate! So you begin with something that seems menial, then realize that it branches off to 4 menial subtasks, which branch off to more tasks, etc. "Finally!" You exclaim, as you've now got some science packs fully automated. Then you'll realize it's 6am. Welcome to Factorio. Definitely a very satisfying experience overall when you get stuff done. On top of that, there's a lot of variety in the base game.

It's not for everyone, so try the free demo first. If you don't like it, but want to like it, there's plenty of in-depth video reviews across Youtube which provide a lot of good information.

Oh, there's also mods, so now that you've spent 300 hours in vanilla, you'll spend another 100 searching for, adding, removing, and tweaking mods and their settings. Then comes the 400 hours where you equally love and hate the game. At the end of the day, the factory must grow.

I played this on PS4 originally, so I was excited to hear a port was coming. I've played into it a bit, and seeing these other reviews, I'm a bit confused. Aside from a pop-up upon launching the game, I've received no errors, no crashes...no problems. The pop-up was that I should update my drivers, but the game still launched as expected. It looks great, running everything at "ultra". I wasn't a fan of the "optimizing" screen, since I felt like it was time wasted when I prefer to go through each graphical setting on my own, but it's not killer.

Story-wise, the game's great and I really enjoy it. I love the bow mechanics, and being on mouse+keyboard it's an absolute dream.

The game seems demanding, so keep that in mind if you don't have a beefy PC.

Here are my specs:
RTX 2080 TI
Ryzen 7 2700X
32gb RAM
Running off an SSD, 1TB

Holy moly (edited, ♥♥♥♥ is a banned word)...500 hours in, and I feel like I've hardly scratched the surface. I've actually never "finished" a game, to be honest. Not too dissimilar to Factorio, this game has a tendency to suck your time up and keep you engaged. Mods are an added bonus. Definitely worth the buy
