This game is designed to be hard. Since it has just released, some elements (mainly a handful of the Providence Trials...) are still leaning into "Difficult and unfun", but for normal gameplay, the developers have made it way more flexible than they technically needed to.
In singleplayer, and multiplayer, there are options for intensity (and in the case of Multiplayer, the host can even let individual players tailor their intensity settings to their liking) in the form of buffing, or nerfing, both incoming and outgoing damage to/from the player.

Hopoo, as they always have, do NOT lock achievements or most unlocks behind not having artifacts or other "cheats" enabled. You could unlock everything with Sacrifice and Command (some of the most powerful artifacts available) while maxing out your outgoing damage and minimizing incoming damage, without that progress mysteriously not applying or vanishing.

Even if, like me, you have a tendency to get "skill issue'd", you'll still be able to pick this up and have fun, especially in Multiplayer.

Another thing to keep in mind is the game (as of writing) is still a pretty new release, so there's still a lot to iron out. Unlike other studios *cough* Bethesda *cough*, they aren't waiting for the community to fix the game and its bugs for them via mods.

An alternative to VRChat that is practically better in every way.
This game does not contain an invasive Anti-Cheat like EAC, thus making the platform much safer and Proton compatible.
The base game is FAR BETTER in terms of optimization than VRChat, even with lots of custom avatars in a single world.
Paying to unlock your account, while odd if you're coming from a platform like VRChat, makes sense as you're making a one time payment for more storage space on the cloud servers of the developers (Which is NOT free and costs them a lot more than they charge us!)
You can still upload 10 avatars on your own without the upgrade, but its very much worth supporting the developer team.

This game is amazing. For anyone who is looking for a fun movement shooter (or just likes fighting giant robots), this is the game for you.

Before I talk further I feel its important to mention that first-party support for this title is basically non existant. If you want to actually play multiplayer, you HAVE to download the mod called "Northstar" (can be easily found by googling Northstar TF2).
Titanfall 2's regular servers, hosted by Respawn, are under constant attacks that render them unplayable, though the singleplayer campaign is still always available in this game, since it is an offline experience.
The developers of this game have all but completely stopped caring about it and it may only be a matter of time before the game is delisted. If you have any intentions of buying this game, do it now.

The campaign is amazing, and the best introduction to Titanfall 2's mechanics. a 10/10 story that serves as a good tutorial and proving grounds to what you can expect in the multiplayer.

Multiplayer is practically dead, in the base game unfortunately. But as mentioned above, there's a new alternative that opens up many possibilities that weren't available before.
For example, Northstar (the client) allows anyone with the knowledge of programming to pick up a code editor, some tutorials, and build new modifications for the game. Adding new weapons, titans, gamemodes, and so much more is theoretically possible on this new platform.

The section about Respawn:
They're awful now. They don't care about this game (or someone is forcing them not to care, but I really think its the former) and its being left to die. The fact that the community itself had to modify the game just to add community servers is depressing, to say the least. At least the community ensured this game has a future, but the fact that the company who says "Titanfall is part of our DNA" couldn't take a day, hell even a FEW HOURS of time to just get this game back in a working state says a lot.

Unlike Apex, this game runs practically flawlessly on Linux through Proton, though as of editing this you WILL need to manually install Northstar if you're going to play any multiplayer. They have a tutorial for Linux and Proton on their wiki.

Edit: I've also recently found out the morally bankrupt team behind this game ALSO want to get into Crypto scams. All they want is money, and its really starting to show. Cancel your VRC+ subscriptions and start looking into porting to ChilloutVR.

Edit 2: "We're not interested in forcing a feature on the community that they're not into, so we're pulling it."
Then why is EAC still in the platform?

Original review:
VRChat is finally falling from grace. Like any big company at the top, they're starting to ignore their community completely.
With the introduction of Easy Anti-Cheat, VRChat is going to become a far more hostile, monetized, and dangerous platform.
EAC won't block malicious mods. Not for long, anyways. You're only hurting the people who use mods to make the game playable (whether that be blocking crashers, rippers, or just plain making it possible to communicate with other people!).
If any of the developers care enough to read this; Drop EAC. You're helping no-one.
And if you monetize the features people were FORCED to mod in because YOUR TEAM couldn't add them yourselves? I hope you immediately understand WHY no-one wants to use your platform anymore.

I played it "a bit". I'd say its pretty good. This is definitely one of the more "community reliant" games with the workshop, but that just adds to the fun!

Really fun with friends!
I've also noticed quite the phenomena where players who originally didn't like "Batlle Royale" games absolutely loved SAR.

Generally, an amazing re-implementation of the GoldSRC Engine for multiplayer co-op. Feels authentic and fast while introducing multiplayer to old games so you can revisit them with your friends. Modding support is also amazing, and allows anyone to try out wacky twists on their favorite maps, or even try out new, multiplayer oriented maps built on this engine. 9/10 mod content made me hate my own community a little bit more

While I still recommend this game to anyone who loves the FPS Genre of games, this classic is now haunted by a small developer team, with most of the former team supposedly forced to move on to more important projects. The only real fun you'll be able to get out of this game is through community servers; Most are actively administrated, and have fun gamemodes, gameplay changes, or other fun additions to the basic formula. There is still plenty of ways to experience Team Fortress 2 as it was intended, such as Faceit (which I would not recommend since they employ an extra kernel level anti-cheat) and Casual (if you can get a server not infested with bots). There's also a plethora of community servers which keep it simple, but they're a little harder to find through the old community server browser.

Garry's mod was a major portion of my childhood, like for a lot of people. I'm glad this game continues to receive major updates, minor updates, and everything in between.

Oh, and screw Nintendo.
