Final Fantasy XIV is a monster of an MMO and a juggernaut of the industry for a number of extremely good reasons.

Cons:
-Can take some time to get into
-Very story heavy (If you're just here for the themepark experience)
-Slightly longish wait to get access to the expansion areas
-Difficult to get player housing (Minus apartments) on high population servers
-Combat can be slow if you're used to things like TERA

Pros:
-Class balance is extremely good
-Can level all classes on one character with an XP boost to all classes lower than your highest
-VERY GOOD COMMUNITY
-One of, if not the absolute best, stories in an MMO
-Extremely likable characters, even minor side characters
-Very interactive developers who play the game themselves
-Tons of events all year round
-Something for everyone (Gathering, Crafting, Fighting, Gambling, Gardening, Decorating, RPing)
-Friendly players
-Easy to get into

The game isn't 100% perfect, but I give it a solid 9/10 for being the only MMO that I keep coming back to again and again. With it's friendly community, extreme endgame raiding and hundreds of other reason, FFXIV will always keep me happy.
