Early Access Review
Very fun game that scratches a very specific tycoon/management itch. The dev has been very cool about working with the community in building their game, and it's been fun to be a part of it. Definitely worth giving your support and joining Early Access.

Nice addition to the genre, but one that didn't really click with me.

I'm something of a fan of management/logistics/simulation games, so this one should be right up my alley. I love the simple and elegant background music and art design to match. The logistics systems in this game are certainly thorough and somewhat challenging (at least to me.) But for some reason, I found me forcing myself to keep pushing to the final product.

Maybe it was that building new production lines and routes was becoming something of a chore. Or that the game tries to do several logistics methods at once, without really giving you a comprehensive and detailed look at where everything is really going in your company. And that I think is when a game like this is let down. To be fair, the developers put a lot of thought into useful and informative info windows. But I think there's a sort of lack of cohesion in the way information is presented, which ends up hurting the game and making essential tasks a little bit harder to accomplish.

I see and admire where they were going with this. They wanted to take the Transport Tycoon-genre of games, smooth out some of the rough edges in the originals, while adding some new concepts and modern feel on top. And for the largest part, I think that's what they accomplished. But given how crowded this space of games is, I just won't be motivated to come back to this one, nor recommend it to someone else.

Feeling super conflicted about this one, but I bought it obviously.

Pretty turned off by how online it is, but that's also a big strength. It's a lot of fun with other people, but the microtransactions make it feel like a free to play game. There's also an issue of crashing which I experienced, and you'll see in other reviews that other people experience, too.

But this game scratches a certain itch that other games rarely do. This game is polished, progresses well, and has an unbelievable fun campaign.

I've followed this game fairly early in its life, when it started out in Early Access. The developers are a small studio, and they put a lot of heart into making this game. It's difficult for me to write this review because of that, but I can't honestly recommend it in its current released state.

I watched this game go through a long and busy development process. The developers kept a consistent and regular blog going which maintained open communication with the community. I first played the game early in the early access but stopped after awhile to let the game mature more. I only just picked it up recently, after having several patches since the big 1.0. I could see how they had implemented new changes and features, but to be honest, the game still feels rough.

The UI isn't very polished or easy to use - the email notification system has a "spam" feature that doesn't appear to be used, accessing data graphs isn't very intuitive or even very informative, and information that should be linked or available (employee/passenger info) sometimes isn't and requires going through a few menus to find.

There are also some fairly stand-out bugs that I'm surprised weren't addressed in the alpha. AI pathfinding sometimes gets stuck for no apparent reason (game even crashed once because of this), flights aren't intelligently assigned to check in desks (this may have been intentional), and baggage conveyors can be finicky unless you've mastered their use.

I know the developers have been slugging away at this game for years, and at some point it's time to move on to something new. It hurts to say it, but you may want to consider getting this game on sale or at least taking a look at the other airport managent game that was released right around this one.

Something about this game makes it very addicting and easy to lose hours in it. Highly recommended.

It's common to hear this game described as "Factorio meets Animal Crossing", or happy Factorio, or some combination with Factorio. For good reason too; this game takes the concept of automating complex supply chains and makes it light and happy. Everything is bright and smiley, but still complicated and deep. I haven't run into any significant bugs yet, but only a few complaints as the game stands so far. Despite having a catalog of objects in the game as well as recipes, I still find descriptions and information lacking. Some more text about what objects are/do would be helpful. This can also go for the tutorial, which does a great job getting your feet wet, but could go into detail on other subjects like farming. Besides that, the music in game is just the right kind for focusing but the ~two tracks that loop during gameplay get repetitive. It's good to mute the music once you're tired of it and start streaming some good study/focus music.

This is a fantastic game so far and the developers are continuing to deliver timely, feature-packed updates. I would recommend this game now, and chances are it will only get better.

Prison Architect brings back some of the old school nostalgia from tycoon/simulation games the likes of Sim Hospital, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Railroad Tycoon. Introversion takes on a rather unique art style and combines it with equally artful sound and UI design that makes the classical tycoon and simulation gameplay that much more enjoyable without feeling like "just another sim game".

The challenge of managing dangerous prisoners while turning a profit avoids becoming too difficult by giving the player several tools like a routine planner, guard shift planner, and building cloning tool. Despite the complexities, the learning curve remains relatively flat.

I purchased this game when it was in Early Access and had the pleasure of watching it grow into the great time-spender that it is now. Many great features were implemented along the way such as thorough mod support and "escape mode", and a good deal of bugs were squished too. My only reservation here is that several high profile bugs remained in the game when the developers decided to go 1.0, and while it has been some time since I've looked at their bug tracker, quite a few were still left.

It makes me a little sad that the original fiery passion and support the developers had for this game back in E.A. seems to be tapering, but I suppose that they can't continue working on the core game forever, as they're aiming for mobile and console releases now. Introversion has produced a shining example of how early access can be a success. I would absolutely recommend this game in its current released state.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious based on my playtime, but this is a game that you can easily spend hours straight in with the right players. This game introduced me to the Source engine after I watched a number of Machinimas on Youtube that were made in Garry's Mod. Garry has spent an incredible amount of time on this game and continues to support and improve it despite starting to work on other projects.

When someone asks you what you can do in Garry's Mod, it's difficult to provide an answer without first asking "What do you want to do?". The premise of Garry's Mod is that you are virtually unlimited in ways it can be played. It comes with a sandbox gamemode where you can load up any Source engine map and play around, and it also comes with an entertaining gamemode called "Trouble in Terrorist Town" which is similar to the board game Clue in a way. Beyond that, Garry's Mod includes the Lua scripting engine which enables anyone to customize the functionality of Garry's mod, leading to endless possibilities.

I'd recommend this game so much that I think it ought to be included with any Source engine game purchase.

Democracy 3 is an original and intruiging game that you don't often find in strictly point-and-click games these days. Your decision making as a country leader can have great and widespread consequences or benefits. The game lets you run a country however you like, making decisions on political subjects especially as we are experiencing them now in the real world. The cause and effect system is very extensive, although some political topics seem to have odd, nonexistant, or arguably incorrect effects in the network.

Overall I've found this game challenging and fun to play. You may find the campaign somewhat short and limited, but the user modding commuity is strong and still providing entertainment.

Awesome graphics, and game play. I would go so far as to describe this game as a cross between Age of Mythology and Sim City 4 - place the time somewhere around midevil-like years, and you pretty much have this game.
