I hate fighting nanaya players so much sometimes. Like, the char is fine, but the players are just like, clearly not playing the same game. Most people when they play melty blood are concerned with things like risk/reward, or potential consequences, or winning or losing. Nanaya players have no thoughts of that. All nanaya players want to do is roll the dice and RPS you at every point, mash dp, warui ne, whatever. To the nanaya player, mashing in a blockstring is a win/win. If they get a hit, they get to do more RPS. If they guessed wrong, they get hit and get to go to the next round or game faster so they can RPS again. Trying to condition them is useless, trying to even interact with them is pointless, because they have no thoughts of losing or doubt, its all just a big slot machine.

Genuinely one of the most amazing fighting games I've ever played. The freedom of movement, the number of ways each character can be played, the level of creativity you're afforded at every turn- few games really matchup to Arcana Heart in this regard. It's really wonderful.

This game is good. Really good.
Not only is it an incredibly fun fighting game, but it's just a really good package altogether.
The story mode is fun, with lovable characters and plenty of humor, and it does something that many other fighting games don't really do.
It weaves efforts to teach you how to play the game into singleplayer content in a way that constantly encourages you to connect with and understand the game as a whole.
Many games simply have lackluster tutorials- or no tutorials at all. This game has tutorialization within every corner of its singleplayer and has robust tutorials and training mode functions you can dig into that help players better understand everything from the basics to more advanced concepts.

In every way you can think of, TFH is a game that wants the player to engage with it, and it shows at every opportunity that it values the player's time spent with it, whether you're someone who's been playing fighting games for years, or someone who just really likes seeing the reindeer make snide remarks after throwing ice across the screen. TFH isn't just a good fighting game, it's a good game in every way I can think of.

Long story short? It's a lot of fun.
For those who haven't played the first and don't know what to expect, this game isn't exactly what you'd expect just by hearing about it and looking at it.
The first game is less of a "rapid RPG" or speedrun-esque thing and more of a large series of puzzles. This is true as well in the sequel, although in the later stretches of the game, you will definitely feel more of an action RPG vibe.

You can mash through any level simply by grinding hard enough on the overworld, but a true challenge presents itself when you refuse to grind, and push onward using your wits.

It's a nice timesink, and incredibly worth your money, considering you get this game, a kickass OST, and the (admittedly poorly handled) port of the first game.

I've not done the multiplayer or messed with the level creation tools all that much, but in my honest opinion, that stuff really isn't why you buy the game.
