Andromeda got over-hated and it's actually a decent game with the right amount of mods and with the right mindset. If you customize the ♥♥♥♥ out of it and remove all the online features it's a great Mass Effect sandbox. I highly recommend getting some mods to rebalance the classes and weapons to create a more lore-friendly experience.

You cannot mod this game without battling against Ubisoft's spyware, DRM launcher. I don't care that it's "just a couple extra steps", this should not be something I need to deal with. I should not have their online services violating my game trying to connect me to their network if I dare try and go offline to use mods. Want to install a mod to make the game playable and remove the loot crates and micro-transactions? Guess what, UBISOFT CONNECT doesn't want you to do that, because they want you to buy loot crates and see advertisements, so you aren't allowed to mod your game. Why allow players to mod when you can instead charge them money to MAYBE get what they want? Or, alternatively, grind forever in their live-service game world experiment. It is not truly your sandbox unless you can modify it freely. Ubisoft once again proves themselves to be a cancerous tumor of a game company.

This game made me realize that real-time with pause and turn-based combat can and should co-exist. Also this game is so good when you're stoned

I usually avoid installing mods into non-sandbox RPGs, especially "community patches" that end up changing the original vision of the game. However - the community patch for ME1 is essential here, imo. It adds an FOV slider since the default FOV is set at a dreadful 70. Highly recommend grabbing that before you play.

You can download the ones for ME1 and ME3 on NexusMods. There is also an unofficial one for ME2. They're pretty easy to set up, just download the "ME3 Mod Manager", then drag and drop the community patch .zip into it; the program does the rest.
