If this game was released as part of an 'early access' I would be happy with the direction and would say it is definitely promising... but it is not.

Lots of features are unpolished. Every country plays the same. Most sub-type governments play the same with only tribe, republic and monarchy varying slightly. Each religion's perks are IDENTICAL for all religions. Generally there is a significant lack of polish. The UI is simply awful. For example, you get a notification that a country has a new ruler and you can back pretenders to destabilise it... but you can't. You can't find pretenders after you close that window.

You can tell that very basic QOL features will be behind DLC pay walls... and I won't be buying them. It is stellaris all over again. First few games are fun, but then you realise there is little variety and they all play the same. At least in EU4 you could choose different regions which played very differently. Or even go for different play styles like colonising. This game however... there is only one play style. Snowball hard and crush everything.

If you are not at war there is literally nothing interesting to do. No cool events, no 'quest chains', there is only a little micro-managing to be done. In summary, lacking polish.

If you are considering to buy it, DON'T . It might improve later in its lifetime, but I expect you will have to pay for it.

A surprisingly happy little game. Simple layout and game idea with good execution. Would recommend as a short past time if you have a few minutes free.

If you enjoy visual novels then this game is highly recommended for you. Problem solving is intuitive and the SPIN attribute system is a nice touch. The game runs smoothly and the story is engaging throughout, with exploration being rewarded.
