TLDR: It's great, like all good remakes it gives the opportunity to play Silent hill 2 but in a different way rather than being a full reboot or just a graphical remaster.

Honestly, everything I had any reservations about has so far been decent to great, if you like the original, this incredibly faithful and if you're new to the series, it's a fantastic opportunity to start.

If I had to force myself to find issues, I would only be thinking of good things that maybe could have been just a tiny bit better had they been given infinite money and time, which is ridiculous.

If anything, any of the "drawbacks" (if they can even be called that) come from almost trying to be too faithful, but even those are purely a matter of personal preference.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the visuals, especially the fog continue to impress, the facial animations are great along with the VA's behind them. I'm honestly so happy for Bloober being able to pull this one off, especially how much unnecessary ♥♥♥♥ they got after the first trailer.

Edit: I continued to play so I could try more characters and see if there really is any change to the feel, but after fighting bosses that use the exact same mechanic of shield balls over and over and over, all those thoughts I had in my review are basically solidified.

Every character except Bunny, feels incredibly anemic in terms of gameplay compared to something like even the basic frames in warframe, who feel genuinely powerful, the characters in this game really feel lackluster over all.

I spent no money and you shouldn't either, the game has good foundations but not enough to compete even on a fundamental level with Warframe or Destiny 2.

----------------------------------

TLDR: It's not an terrible game, it's a pretty game that only has depth in mechanics and ideas it's taken from other games in the genre, without as much variety or satisfaction in the execution of those mechanics.

The extensive cash shop on launch is the most telling sign of Nexon just doing what they're best at, making mmo's that have pretty graphics and the bare minimum everywhere else but the cash shop.

I can't recommend it over it's competitors at all really, but if you do decide to play, DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY.

------------------------------------------------------

Honestly I didn't hate the game, but everything about it that I liked was just simply because it was outright copied (no not just similar, it's identical) from other games in terms of function.

Combat is fine, but enemy variety (especially bosses) is severly lacking so far, some characters have incredibly lackluster kits in terms of how satisfying they are and after the 4th boss in a row that used the exact same shield drone mechanic, it became quite clear that they cared more about visuals than anything else really.

It says alot that the game has launched with a ton of skins, limited edition bundles and sets, most of which reach very high prices and are either just goofy fortnite-esque outfits like a dinosaur onesie, or its the predictable swimsuits and maid outfits for the female characters.

It's not a bad game, but I don't see any reason to choose it over other games in the genre right now because there is nothing unique that the game offers in terms of gameplay, story or visuals, it feels a bit too much like "What if you could play Destiny in third person as a Korean super model in a mini skirt" it's pretty, but feels wholly unoriginal and all it's depth comes from systems and ideas it's taken from other places.

I was frustrated when I first started this dlc, I thought something felt wrong and was kinda starting to find it frustrating.

After so many hours of playing the base game, 5 different characters, 1 of them being on NG+8 and having played everything from busted builds to stupid meme builds, I felt like the dlc was way beyond over tuned.

It wasn't until I started to look back at how I played on release of ER that I realized why I played the way I did back then, on my first playthrough I knew nothing and I took precautions to make up for that, I didn't know every boss inside out, I didn't know the limits of myself or the enemies.

I didn't expect to win all the time and I needed time to learn what to do, so I used defensive talismans, I used a shield, I used rot, poison, magic and sometimes I had no issue summoning ashes or npcs, so it wasn't until I knew the game that I started doing builds wearing almost no armor, opting for higher risk/higher reward tactics.

The DLC is 90% amazing, 10% a little frustrating, so don't ruin it by going into expecting to beat everything like you do in the base game after so many years, you're basically starting elden ring again and it's pretty worth it.

Nuts the amount of content and polish this game has, doesn't matter if you like vtubers or not, this is more value than most indie games and it doesn't cost a penny.

Even if it cost the same as any other 'reverse bullet hell' on the market, it would highly likely still be more than worth it.

A beautiful re-imagining of the original game that tows the line between enough of the classic details that old school fans will be able to use their knowledge and feel that nostalgia, whilst also having some of that prior information used to play with their expectations in certain places and story beats.

For new players its the definitive way to see this story and gameplay. CAPCOM made the right choice bringing this back in house so they could make sure it was done right.

Running it on a 3090 and only minimal frame drops in some places, which only occurred if I attempted to ignore enemies and run through an area, causing the game to spawn every enemy in the area all at once.

Anything I could say negatively about the whole experience would be either preference or nitpick.

Exactly what I want from these kinds of games, tons of choice and experimentation is incentivised thanks to systems that allow free respeccing and class changing for units as well as capturing new units.

Spritework in battle is pretty decent, just wish the criticals had actual special animations for every unit as it gives a nice reason to watch combat animations playout with that chance for a cool one, but it's not anything that's detrimental in a significant way.

Character artwork and maps are old style fire emblem with a little more western art style mixed in, the character sprites out of combat are a bit "RPG Maker" but it's not a huge thing.

If you look at the screen shots and think "That looks like that game that I like" then you can't really go wrong with picking this up, especially at this price.

A fun idea, fun characters (mostly), but the non-existent player base means the game is impossible to balance correctly as every match is just 2-3 high level players farming everyone else.

Impossible to learn efficiently and the games balance is decided from such unreliable data (again because of the playerbase) that it's basically not worth trying to improve or even look up reliable data.

Seems clear the dev's have no faith in the project and took the crypto currency because they get paid and the investor gets more crypto currency. Only people not being thought about are the players.

Play it if you want, but do not under any circumstance, give any money to these people.
