Early Access Review
The default control scheme is surprisingly comfortable and is very useful for playing this game's charts on a standard controller. At first I tried a more traditional layout similar to djmax on ps4 but I very quickly ran into impossible button combinations such as left and right on the dpad. I do wish it were slightly more intuitive by default but I don't think I could come up with a better solution myself.

However I'm sorry but the drifting mechanic feels absolutely awful. Even at max sensitivity I have to significantly turn my controller and it just hurts my wrists. Autodrift feels like a lame compromise and I don't like how its inclusion forces the separation of scores with and without it.

The arcade mode is extremely cool though, and I think the chart quality is pretty good. The music is also very good and I find myself listening to some songs outside of the game. Visually everything is beautiful, a bit barebones at the moment but what is there is full of style. I'll be sticking with this game as it receives updates, excited to see where it will go from here.

As somebody who has played rhythm games for my entire life I think the rhythm part of this game is really really good. The song selection is great with lots of original music that fits the charting style well. The bumper notes are reminiscent of djmax's 5B mode where there is ambiguity as to how patterns should be approached and I enjoy it a lot. I think it adds some reading nuance that elevates the game above just scrolling notes. The dev team clearly contains rhythm game players as there are many very nice features such as key beam opacity and visual offset.

However this game also has a visual novel type story mode which I do not care for at all. This can mostly be ignored since there are few story chapters that are mandatory to view, and even those can be mostly fast forwarded through. There are also a lot of ARG elements which I also do not care for, but those too can be skipped by reading steam guides for answers to puzzles. The accessibility options are also very good, removing almost all of the grind necessary for unlocking and allowing the majority of content to be accessed almost immediately.

As expected from an early access game there are bugs, for example after clearing a certain story event I encountered a known bug where I was not given the reward despite finishing the requirement. In order to progress the game I was required to either edit my save file (which is extremely frowned upon by the developers) or join the discord server and join the beta branch using a code. I would recommend joining that branch if you are going to play this game in early access.

The fact that this is free is shocking. If it were $5 or even $10 I would happily pay without a second thought.

one of the best idle games i've ever played. i've been really depressed lately and checking on my flask progress has legitimately become a reason to get out of bed in the morning. thank you.

Dude it's not even funny how much worse this is
-They shipped it with the WRONG DEADZONE which means out of box the controls are wrong. This is unfixable on consoles.
-The camera is significantly worse and loves to spin around for no reason
-Moving straight is a philosophical construct. You tilt the analog stick forward and you go off to the side
-Menus are unresponsive as ♥♥♥♥ which is not a good thing in a game with built in speedrunning features
-There are not enough voice clips so you will be hearing the same screaming over and over again especially when you die. And oh yes the characters do love to scream (except for the ones they were too lazy to add voice clips for). If I have to hear Baby's death noise one more time I am going to have to do something drastic
-Minigames aren't even worth touching

Just download Dolphin

The acceleration feels very "off" and a lot of the late game level design is frustrating in the worst possible way. Can't get past the controls which just don't feel good at all. Best part of the game is definitely the music, which is surprisingly great
