First off, two very good resources for looking up more Dota 2 crap are:
http://www.dotafire.com
http://www.dota2wiki.com
The first has a bunch of user-submitted guides for different heroes. Excellent if you want to get a feel for the flexibility and range of what heroes can do, and item builds as well. The other is the wiki on the game itself, and has EVERYTHING in regards to game mechanics, heroes, abilities, and pretty much everything.
Second, just keep playing. Shrug off harassment from ragers. Don't stop playing, as you can only improve.
