The skill progression of Runescape, the gear progression of Terraria, Dark Souls inspired combat and a unique food system that's likely to show up in future games. A simplistic building system that allows you to build very complex structures. A nostalgic graphical style. I love all of this.
However, there is one design decision that makes this game...
You cannot fast travel with ore/bars older games used to have systems like this.

Most of today's games are easier than older predecessors because of skips and QoL. These aren't always a bad thing, but too much can dampen the feeling of accomplishment. One decision and they've made your adventure so much more meaningful. Now, every base you make, every enemy you encounter, and traversing the world matters because of how crafting works. Many people will whine about this and mod it out of the game. To do so would be a disservice to yourself so please take my advice; Don't do it until you've played through it at least once.

Do yourself a favor and buy this game, it'll be the best $20 you've ever spent.

I had been waiting for this game since the first reveal, I had high expectations going in, and this game shattered all of them! This is the only game in my adult life that has had me awake for over 48 hours. When I'm not playing this game all I can think about is playing this game.

An instant Classic and easily my G.O.A.T.
