I played this not long after completing Chef Solitaire: USA so it's natural I'll compare the two. Besides, it's the same company. Curse of the Dragons is superior in almost every respect: graphics, story, voice acting. The powerups and items are about similarily entertaining. But there is one big downside I need to talk about. In Chef Solitaire every hand is... self-contained, for lack of a better word. What I mean by that, is that it has its own goals and if you fail those, you just retry that one hand. Here, goals are assigned per level, and one level is ten hands. If you fail even one of the goals, you have to redo all ten hands. That feels like terrible design. It caused a situation where I modified my gold gain for a level because I saw I was going to fail it and did not want to waste time redoing it. Hacking a solitaire game is a low I'd never imagine myself stooping to, but here we are. I seriously considered giving a thumbs downs but because this happened only once, it's acceptable. The objectives are actually well balanced to create tension but when all tools are used, it's not a big deal. And besides, I didn't feel like it's a chore to finish, unlike the other game.

The tiny arena which I disliked in the previous Ubermosh is still here but at least we got loadouts back, and some of the things you can choose are cool. This makes for enough of a compromise to swivel my thumb back up. A decent end to the franchise.

The gameplay loop consists of dying to the difficult early fights and being isekai'd again, over and over without getting weaker but occasionally getting stronger. And eventually you start winning. Advancing your character is done mostly by buying upgrades in the shop, the gold for which comes from cornering the condom market (don't worry, it's super easy). The h-art looks low quality at first, but there is some interactivity implemented in the scenes and they are varied, so it's a decent trade-off. I was going to say it's better than the likes of Cyber Crush 2069, but the "Wombo Combo" achievement is really annoying. I finally managed to get it through a combination of glitching, a whole lot of luck and time. A meme game such as this should not aspire to require this much effort. So, thumbs down.

In a departure from the slow, incremental tweaks of the previous games, this seventh part changes things a lot. The play field is now waaay smaller, the action ramps up quicker right from the start, loadouts are predefined for classes and there is no more normal/hard difficulty. I commend the guy for experimenting, but for me this is a slight step in the wrong direction. I'm not even sure why... I don't hate it, but.. something feels off. Ohh and there are new classes finally!

For me, the best aspect of the game has got to be Prague. They made it look so charming and atmospheric that I would love to live there (even with the vampires). And in a broader sense graphics are very good, down to interiors of apartments you can see through windows. The worst part is the combat, sadly. Players (and bots) are extreme bullet sponges, bot AI spazzes out, gunfights are totally spray-and-pray due to low innate weapon accuracy and players jumping around like in the Matrix movies.

Considered individually, the two main pieces (WoD lore, BR gameplay) are correctly executed. But when brought together, they don't mesh well, it doesn't work. Maybe this was one of those concepts that sounded better on (pen and) paper.

Best singleplayer survival I've played so far. Admittedly I haven't played that many.

Another volume that does not add a new class, instead adding a new loadout component - this time it is an autoattack modifier. It's not explained at all but it is possible to figure out most of it through gameplay. There are more shielded enemies than ever, yet balancing feels on point. Importantly, this iteration adds a new difficulty level which is above hard. But with experience from previous games in the series under one's belt it doesn't feel all that tough, more like a welcome quickening of the pace.

This is the first time that a new class has not been added to an Ubermosh, keeping the total at 7 (if you count the base one). To compensate, a new kind of mechanic has been added where every n seconds you get a bonus of your choice (two to choose from). Between this and the manastrike added in the previous volume, a kind of loadout system is emerging. Gunner has been significantly nerfed by removing one of his extra lives, of which he already had very few. I feel like kensai is the strongest in terms of scoring potential, something I could've never seen coming. I always viewed kensai as a meme class, yet here we are and it's enjoyable to play.

The shielded (temporarily invulnerable) enemy is annoying. The new class (Wraith) has scoring potential but feels bland. Manastrike is hella cool. Even cooler because with it, Kensai is finally viable! Gunner still the strongest though. Achievement high score amounts were upped again (and require playing on hard) but are not impossible. A cautious iteration with - subjectively - few changes applied to its predecessor, but still fun.

This iteration of the game removes all walls and the edge of the arena - it is now an infinitely scrolling flat area. For some reason this makes the gameplay much better, as if bringing out some previously hidden potential. It also feels a bit easier than the second game (roughly on par with the first one), even though scores required for achievements were raised (again). A new playable class is added, but it's kinda uninteresting. Still, after having wavered in the previous installment, the vision for the series seems to be back on track!
