Getting our clique together and taking turns playing the survival mode in Crimsonland is one of my better memories of middle school. 12 years later it still plays and feels great, though obviously there's a lot of nostalgia talking here. The change to the Telekinesis perk is unfortunate, but I kinda understand it (gamepad support). Some of the achievements are unreasonable, which is disappointing.

The orphaned, female protagonist's struggle to gather pennies can perhaps be viewed as a metaphor for the plight of the vulnerable and disenfranchised in today's world, as hostile as ever. Moving and evocative. The brilliant voice acting deserves particular mention.

The best time-management game I've played in a long, looong time. A bit disappointing it doesn't have upkeep costs such as rent and ingredient refills but it has enough depth anyway. There's plenty of foods and upgrades to keep you occupied as you master new combinations and increase the challenge at your own pace.

Also here's a major protip: when making a dish that has two pages of ingredients (such as soup or pizza), if you remember the key shortcuts you don't have to flip the page to access the other ingredients! So you can gather all necessary ingredients from the first page even though they're not listed on-screen... This makes a huge difference; pity I only found about it when I was about to get my third star.

A delightful journey with one-of-a-kind art direction. The audio is good too, although the music seems to cut in and out for no reason sometimes. The puzzles are simple to avoid frustration and keep things moving along. Note that it's extremely short and probably not worth the full price - as usual try to buy with a discount.

Like sudoku, minus the charm and reliability - only frustration remains.

The game is missing the "undo last move(s)" function for when you need to delve into highly hypothetical forward guessing, which happens a lot. And yes, once you finish a level you can never replay it - although I'm not one to do that sort of thing anway. Due to its high difficulty (even in the "Easy" packs) and presence of some very uncommon words I wouldn't recommend it as a learning tool for students of English.

Luckily, there are great guides available to be done with it in a reasonable amount of time. Recommended only to achievement hunters and people who really, really like this particular niche.

A few weeks ago I wrote a review for Despair, in which I called it the shoddiest game I have - so far - seen on Steam. Although I'd rather not edit old reviews, a time has come in which I regret those words.

This game is so bad, I find it hard to put into words. It's not even a game to be honest. It's not even an alpha. It's like a pre-alpha tech demo hacked together by an intern, and the kind that is never actually demo'd to anyone because it's so bad. This game has the dubious honour of being the first (and so far only) product that I refunded on Steam. Normally I'm a fan of the "so bad it's good" shtick, but this is something else - this is a scam.

As far as I can tell, the achievements don't work. At all. I tried. So unless you want the cards, there is no reason to buy this.

I am a bit mystified as to why Steam allows this to exist on their store for so long. The fact that they have not pulled this yet has significantly damaged their image in my eyes and I can't be the only one.

The one word that kept bubbling up to the surface of my mind when attempting to evaluate this game is "charming". There's a lot to nitpick about if you insist, sure. It's simple, it's repetitive, the graphics are mediocre at best and so is the story.

But... but it just works. The humor is decent (debatable), the music is great and the game is a lot of fun. The achievements are easy to 100% and enjoyable - very admirable. I admit I'd feel somewhat ripped off had I paid the full asking price. But at a discount it's a good purchase.

100% achievements in 10 minutes flat. Due to a bug, but still. A shining example to all games everywhere on how achievements should be made.

I'm being mostly serious, too. I was halfway done with writing a scathing tirade on achievement design, but I'll spare you.

Oh and the game itself? Quite fun, yes, quite fun, mostly at the relaxing, lower speeds. The music is okay. Highly recommended if you have a discount.

I paid 9 eurocents for this and I almost feel I overpaid. It's that bad.

Yeah, I found it scary at times, so I guess it does what it sets out to do. But how it does it is the problem, the lack of polish. So far I have not seen a shoddier game on Steam.

It makes for an excellent gag gift to ones friends though - next time it's at that price, they're all getting it~
