While there are some graphics that appear messed up (especially the butterflies), this is a very good collection of the games that made Cube Escape the incredible series that it is. I very much look forward to what's going to come next.

Rusty Lake games have always been a blast, and this remade version of the game that started it all is no exception. New puzzles, a secret ending, and a way to tie in the predecessor to the main story make this a great play for those into the series.

I can't escape. I bought this game to play with some friends and now I see this game more than I see my own family. I recently graduated high school and I don't have a job so my life is going to drain away into here.

Good game though. Plenty of friendly people, lots to do, played this way more than any other MMORPG combined. Just remember to tend your crops at least once a day. #mandragoralivesmatter

If you never wanted to kill someone more in life, this game may bring about those feelings.

In my experience, this is how things go:

1 Player vs 3 AI - Prepare to either get screwed constantly or always ignored
2 Player vs 2 AI - If you have a good enough friend, you'll basically do a 2 v 1 v 1
3 Player vs 1 AI - Everyone either attacks each other and ignores the AI, or everyone goes after the AI
4 Player - Alliances will be made, friendships will be destroyed, and no one will be safe

Ori and Sein can be a bit jarring at first, but with enough time spent, control feels like second nature. Using them together for the tag team moves can be a bit frustrating if you aren't able to properly space Sein (for me, at least) and the amount of times you'll probably die trying to use Bash off of the stage will be high in numbers while learning. Glide in conjunction with someone who can't help but go for the punish when this happens (make sure when you Bash, you're near the walls so you're able to walljump to Glide) is really handy. In addition to the Rival, you also get the beautifully crafted Spirit Tree stage, which really lets Ori and Sein do their best, has nice references in the Aether version, and is accompanied by music inspired by the game.

Rival
  • Difficulty: 4/5 : Takes a while to learn, but still feels a bit strange. At least for me.
  • Appearance: 5/5 : I mean, what did you expect? Ori's adorable, yet fierce.
Stage
  • Basic: 5/5 : The way the stage is crafted perfectly compliments the Rival's fighting style.
  • Aether: 3/5 : While the stage itself is great, with an added moving platform in the middle, having to hide from Kuro can become annoying.
  • Music: 5/5 : Not much I can say here. The music is great.
Overall : 9/10 : The Rival is a great addition to the roster but might will feel weird to those trying out a potential new main. The stage is beautiful, however the Aether version feels as though the safe zones on the side, and the platforms themselves, could have been raised a bit. I definitely recommend this DLC, and look forward to the future DLC as well.
