This basically feels like a slightly more casual Terraria with skill progression in addition to pure item progression. It has the same love and attention to detail that Terraria did in its early days. This is seriously great already and I have very high hopes for the future of Core Keeper, I can't recommend supporting this enough.

Honestly it's great, feels like an Ark Pokemon mod polished properly into its own (surprisingly unique) game.
This is the kind of experience Nintendo should have had years ago.

Really great game, fun survival mechanics, one of the most immersive building systems I have seen in quite some time.
Piecing together the lore mystery is very fun, even if the ending feels quite rushed.
It's more of tension-building horror, without cheap jumpscares, which I very much enjoy.
Imo the game shines brightest with friends, and while it isn't perfect, it is very fun.

The state of this review is based on a single thing: Always Online
If this aspect of the game is fixed, allowing us to do true peer-to-peer or single-player offline I will happily change this review to positive. As it stands forcing players to always connect to the game's servers degrades the experience significantly.
Even as I am writing this the servers are down, so NOBODY who bought the game can play ANY part of it. That is ridiculous and there is no good reason for the product to work like that.

Apart from the Always Online problem, the fundamentals of this game are actually really good. I love what I see so far and will be excited to see this game develop. I hope they put as much love and effort into PD3 as they have for PD2.

Stealth is hugely improved from PD2, its no contest, if you prefer to play the game as a stealth game this has what you want
The gunplay is great, nice and punchy like we can expect from a Payday game...
...but they removed melee weapons, big sad :(
The new system for special weapons is interesting, not sure if I like it or not yet
Bangin soundtrack, as always
Skills/Perks have been unified into one system, you'll either love this or hate it
The UI is real janky right now, I'd like to see them polish it some more
The game is definitely harder than PD2, I don't really consider that a bad thing but it makes it much harder to solo missions if you go loud

This game ruins my day every time I play it.
However it is too much fun to not return to ruin my day again.
10/10 would have to start over again.

If the devs give this game workshop support then the game might just rise from the dust. Sadly I doubt that will be the case as Uber hasn't updated it for many months now.

TL:DR - The game is really fun, especially with friends. But Uber sucks as a company and has probably abandoned the game by now. It's a sad waste of potential.

The negative reviews for this game are 90% people who are angry about Uber basically releasing the game a second time at full price for a package that was really just some DLC plus the base game. Quite the scummy move, Uber.
However despite Uber's poor business plans, the game itself is quite fun especially with a few friends. There's nothing quite like fielding a massive army, then only using it to secure a death star to blow up every other planet in the system. The score for this game is fantastic, it sounds very massive and epic and when you hear it while your army crushes the opposition, it gives you the chills that only something this awesome can bring.

On the negative side, there's really very little optimization (if any) and as I mentioned above, I think uber has just given up on keeping this game up to date.
I hope some responsible companty buys the rights to this game, because there's really a lot of potential here, especially for player-made content considering the style of the units and buildings.
