I try as hard as I can not to kill the spiders, but sometimes you accidentally swing a red-hot bar of metal through them as they're just chilling on the wall.

They have names, the spiders. Each and every one of them. I wish I didn't risk killing them in my work, but here we are. I let them thrive for hours at a time only to be struck down by the uncaring god that is progress in my search for Cast Steel. I wish to inter them into a tomb but the empty bug jar only counts as a statistic. Falsities. These spiders had lives, lives up to 230, maybe even 300 minutes of gametime. They deserve a tomb where they might be recognized.

Sailor Plasmoo the Ignorant, I wish you were still here amongst the skittering. You were my favorite spider until the Yellow Gold Wars. I should have kept you in a terrarium much sooner, my friend, but times were hard. There were so many orders until I'd see the merchant again. You were a brother.

If there were an option to remove my harm to the spiderfolk this game would easily, for the reasons of others, rate 10/10, but as the game currently stands I cannot recommend anyone who cares for the fate of the lessers to purchase this game until there is an option to safeguard their forge-friends from the danger of freely flung bronzes and golds.

Free Sailor Plasmoo the Ignorant from his endless sleep, let there not be another loss beside him which might spur such revolution that this smithery may never discover another alloy again.

the same people who wanted this released earlier are the same ones losing their minds in the official discord over the game being too difficult, but its all skill issue

water isn't hard to stockpile, enemies aren't that difficult to avoid, loot is plentiful

it needs another 6 months or so to cook and feel like a proper EA release but I'm still having a blast with it, the next few patches will probably address most of my foremost complaints with the game

take the negative reviews with a grain of salt, they're mostly cope

This is just an aborted Fallout 76 with worse optimization.

I've put two sessions into this game, with the second time finishing the prologue after obsessing over making money, so I did every race and I even used to resets on poor starts/finishes. All in all it cost me 5 and a half hours of my time just for an error to boot me from the game, restart it, and then realize that all of my progress was wiped. Twice.

My only hopes is Steam will refund me for this purchase, because I don't have the energy to risk my progress being blitzed to zero every time the game closes. Avoid this game.

This is the greatest game to get onto steam under the Early Access tag. It has captivated me for almost 20 hours already and I'm still heavily invested to see how far our village will go.

Building your longhouse and village and taking to the seas in search of more foes to slay with your cousins is a fantastic time. Look up into the sky and see Yggdrasil. Follow the raven of Odin's tips to discover new mechanics. Put your enemies' heads on a plinth. Find the secret magics of the world and use them to conquer the land.

Edit: Played more of the game. Still charming, lots of pacing issues for groups.

I'm about ~40 hours into a game playing with 4 others and the way the game is paced and scaled it seems a lot easier to provide gear for one or two players than a whole group and it slows progression down. This is partially the fault of players (admittedly myself) who don't want to spend several hours pulling carts to mine but it does hinder progress a lot if you're cooperating with a large group, especially with difficulty scaling.

Slight spoilers for newer players who haven't progressed many bosses yet:

Every tier of armor you go up doesn't just require a new resource but an inflated amount of that new resource to the point where getting armor for new biomes for large groups even with everyone participating becomes a real drag. The time investment it will require you to progress every stage almost multiplies, especially if you are settled far from the next biome and are unable to bring materials through a portal for some reason. I actually found one of the easiest ways to progress at this juncture is to make a separate seed offline world close to the materials our clan needed for the next location rather than sailing continents away to fill our hull with materials by hand and sail them back to our forges.

We have tried setting up satellite areas but the limitation in materials and teleportation is still a hindrance because now you have to find X and Y biome for the lower tier mats next to Z biome where I'm farming new mats and so on. The first modification I would make to the game is reducing mat costs each tier when playing with friends so we can continue playing with the content and make some way to transport the higher tier materials across large distances faster since its more tedium than anything.

One more example I can give offhand is when we were preparing to conquer the third boss who utilizes poison as his main form of attack and is only vulnerable to bludgeoning damage. If it were just a solo player it wouldn't take more time to make yourself your highest tier mace, sink mats into quality and turn out some poison resistance meads for one, but since I'm playing with a group who are all taking the journey with me for the first time blind we had to spend a long time gathering the resources for 4 players to have maces, 4 players to have a couple of resist meads a piece and make sure every player had a decent amount of armor to progress. Our group definitely feels the affects of resource requirement bloat and its a bit punishing compared to when we're in our offline seeds farming, which is a minor deterrent because we are finishing the game and building our longhouses and villages together.

That being said, filling the halls with the heads of your enemies and gathering back up at your thrones to make a toast to your hard-fought experiences over-seas and surviving feels very rewarding, even if we feel slowed by it. We're definitely not as far along in the game as we'd like to be at this point but we're not so far back that we've lost interest. It has actually propelled us a bit in spite of the scaling to sally forth and claim the rest of this world's riches and conquer the wilds. If you don't mind a hardcore experience, and really like mass gathering, or are playing solo or as a smaller group, you probably won't feel this section to necessarily be negative. Everyone seeking Valhalla has their own path to take.

Well there goes my 15 hours save with everything up to the update unlocked and leveled up. Hopefully steam will refund this dlc because I've completely lost interest in playing if my character is going to get deleted while crashing during the jackal fight, and my first boss fight of the dlc.

That's such an unacceptable amount of irreversible bullsh*t.
