Edit: The devs are actively listening to the comments and reviews quite swiftly, and have addressed a decent section of my comments below. I've changed my review to recommended.

-----

I love simulator games like this, and for the first hour it was great. However the game is heavily inbalanced and causes it to fall flat later on, it doesn't look like much QA or testing was done for the game - you can even see in the screenshots above on day one they're level 13 with tons of cash.

The idea of the game is great and looks like it was fleshed out to give enough variety in the game. I may be doing something wrong here but it took me a decent few tries to finish an ametuer tournament which was an early game task. There are some REALLY cool ideas in this game, I wish they had a bit more people fully test it out before releasing it.

I am currently bronze 3 and semi-pro in an FPS game... but at the same time I'm a streamer currently making thousands. One week I'm stuggling to pay rent because my landlord decided to double my rent and then soon after triple it... And then the next week I'm suddenly making thousands in ad revenue? Is there any point to trying to go professional when my contract for semi-pro is 60 bucks a week?

On top of that looking at the screenshot there seems to be some sort of 'gamer house' management thing going on. I assume you need enough research points to get to that but research generation is so slow that it becomes irrelevant.

Devs seem to have just put in a patch just before I hopped back in today to give it a shot but it's still lacking.

My suggestions to devs:
-Adjust values for competitive play so you can actually climb easier based on your skills/perception.
-Allow career progression later on when you actually are maybe out of bronze...
-Scale streaming ad revenue and subscriber gain rate.
-Have some tooltips to maybe explain the bars and numbers during tournaments and comp.
-Please make a away to speed up work and other activities.
-Scale down the research point costs a bit?
-Make next step in goals have somewhat relative/achievable values in comparison to the last. I.e. Cool now you've won the ametuer cup, get 50,000 subscribers (instead of now becoming semi-pro).

If you're okay with your soul getting sucked into a game, sure, by all means grab this free game. Then when you start getting the hang of the game you'll start to enjoy it more. You'll enjoy it so much that you haven't realised that you just skipped your dinner. Eventually you'll start going to sleep later and later each day because you're so close to that quick ascension.

Once you've deprived yourself of sleep and nutrients you may feel the need to make sudden purchases like multiple monitor setups so you can play Clicker Heroes while 'doing work' because that's clearly going to make you more productive. A while down the line there will be some guys in uniform knocking on your door for an eviction notice because you didn't pay rent in the last 3 months and ignored the multiple phone calls and notices.

But it's all good because you just managed to get all the achievements.

9/10 - Good for a quick game.

I'm not one for novels and stories. I'm the person that prefers to watch movies instead. I would never have expected t enjoy this game so much.

It looks so simple yet you can spend so much time on it. It's that 'choose your adventure' book you had as a kid with much more paths consequences and even stats.

There's more RPG elements in this game than any game out nowadays that has an alignment system and is 100% story driven. Each action you take generally has a consequence and it'll put you into situations that will make you really ponder about how to go about things.

The writing is also quite brilliant minus a few grammatical errors.

9/10 for a game like this.

I would say this game is worth the full price tag, and you'd be a fool not to grab it when it's on sale if RPG is your thing.

I've played dozens of Anime stlye MMO's over the years, and some are similar, some are different. What usually defines how that game is not like all the others tends to usually fall into one major gimmick per game.

In Aura Kingdom that would be known as the 'Eidolon' system.

Basically it's your own pet that fights with you. They're core in the game and are not too hard to obtain.

(This review is based on a few things. I have two characters. One lvl 50 and one level 30. I have yet to do the more 'lategame' stuff like high level dungeons. As of this review I've clocked around 40 hours.)

The main points of the game, you decide if it's good or bad.

- Quests are heavy and pretty much constant till you hit lvl 48. There is no monster grinding whatsoever and leveling is fast.
- Even though there are parties, questing is pretty much a solo thing and instances need to be done solo.
- The classes and skills are quite different and unique.
- Appearance is based on global costumes rather than class related armor.
- There seems to be class imbalances at the current time of the game. So far my Ravager (which is considered more AoE) has bested duelists of my level.
- There is no MP (as far as I can tell) in the game, letting mages spam.
- There is a need to kite enemy spells as they can be dodged by movement and skills, meaning there is a bit more skill in some mob fighting.
- All classes, even the support types like Bard are capable of solo questing and don't need to depend on parties.
- Gaining decent items at earlier levels is not too hard provided you know your way around the market and auction area.
- Mobs spawn back really fast so dont worry about AoE mob stealers or KSers.
- Gaining 'Bonus EXP' is fairly simple with parties. EXP is not split between members however - making Power Leveling unapparent.
- There is quite a number of bots who auto follow quests since going from place to place is REALLY easy.
- High number of 'grindy' collection quests which require this or that killed/collected. This is countered by the decent drop rate. Seems to be around 60%.To collect 5 eggs from birds you usually have to kill around 10 or less.
- Eidolons are quite handy in a solo game like this. They're easy to level up.
- You can glide.
- Characters have very little stats to customise due to lack of MP related stats.
- Subclasses can be obtained to make your character even more unique.
- There are tons of daily and hidden quests for you to find if you really want to.
- There is an achievement system for those who like to collect.

A review of the basics:
-Very story driven.
-Leveling is easy.
-Classes are unique.
-Easy to understand GUI.
-Easy quest system.
-More of a solo-ish game.

My personal experience:
Got to level 40 on my first day because I have no life. Made a guild with my real life friends. There wasn't much interaction till 1 daily quest and there still isnt. It's been 5 days and I only just got to level 50. Im slowly starting to get bored of the monotony now, at this level there are around 10 quests of collection and killing ♥♥♥♥ and you don't even ge to the next level. I'm gerenally a fickle person with my MMOs, I play things until there's too much repetition because I don't have the patience for that and the novelty of the game wears off when that happens.

My Ravager makes quick work of nearly all mobs and I dont require the use of a potion due to my innate tankiness and the fact I have a DMG/CRIT type. The only problem I face is soloing boss monsters which tend to mow me down quite fast and actual skill is required to kill them though kiting (which is a good thing). My sorcerer pretty much is a spam machine that doesn't even compare to my Ravager.

Based on:
40 hours, 2 characters (50, 30), Ronin patch.

Verdict:
Worth a shot for anyone into MMORPGs, especially for those trying to learn it. the quest tracker makes lives simple for those learning about these type of games and all NPC chat doesn't need to be read to know what's going on.

Great first impression for a trilogy.

Nice voice acting and story, as well as spunky characters.

A lot less detective work for a normal RPG game as pressing the spacebar highlights all clickable areas in a location. It's helpful, but also hindering. It is a nice fail-safe option to have though.

Made me want to get the sequel, and the one after. I highly recommend the bundle of 3.

8/10 - Fun, memorable, but short. Still a must for an avid RPG player.

You would play a game like this more for the mechanics of the game. It has nice lore, great background and the game is unique.

If you enjoy stealth games, silent assasinations, hiding in the shadows or not getting detected, this is for you.

Do not however play this for story, as the ending leaves many unneeded questions that shouldn't need a sequel.

7/10 - Recommended for the game mechanics, not for those who like to play for story.

Great arcade game to pass a small amount of time. Waiting for a video to buffer or download? Play some FTL.

One of the more harder to grasp arcade strategies out there, as each run through requires a little luck - a great start and really get you going much easier.

8/10 Recommended for those who want to just chill, and play a quick game, no stress, and can leave and any point. No need to commit.

Great system, well organised.

More ideal for multiplayer usage, and more fun with closer friends than strangers. Make sure you have a lot of time to invest, or you will be taking a lot of breaks and games can go on for weeks, maybe months.

Highly advise to get the DLCs that improve gaming content, and are extensions, as they tend to include importany and game defining features.

9/10 Recommended for those who have friends willing to take the time to play a city building game. (Around 4+ is best)

Edit: 3 years later this game is still solid.
