this game is in my top 10 games of all time easily but...

50 dollars for a 14 year old game that didn't receive any sort of polish other than a port to a new platform is about what i expect from rockstar these days. dropping the multiplayer was pretty stupid too, but its somewhat forgivable because it has less content than red dead online. buy it when they inevitably slash its price next year around this time.

big extract shooter fan and this game is fundamentally weaker than what's on the market and i have little faith it'll blossom into something worth playing at a reasonable time. i'll check back in on it at some point, but right now go in with the mindset that the offerings are slim.

im seeing a lot of reviews of this game saying its too difficult and has glaring issues*, but i havent been this hooked on a rougelike since the first risk of rain and that was eleven years ago. this is a great little game with a good style to it, a nice little soundtrack that isn't over the top and enough challenge that you'll keep trying to beat stages even if you keep getting your butt kicked. would thoroughly recommend this game, and i didn't even know about it until steam dropped it in my recommendations. eager to see where it goes and what perfect random is going to do next

* the game suffers from some occasional bouts of lag, but i've noticed its really only when there's a metric boatload of enemies that are alive/too much on the screen at once. im 100% positive as this game progresses, these issues will go away..

i like driving games with an action twist, but this one sort of just sucks. people are whining about the politics in the game and i don't really care about that, but this game isn't fun- the actual driving mechanics and handling are pretty awful considering the fact its a core part of the game; it feels incredibly simplified, almost like an afterthought. i do think its a bit silly that the developers were more worried about making the game inclusive rather than ensuring core parts of the gameplay were actually engaging.

this game pretty much encapsulates the fear of running across a homeless person while doing urban exploration.

classic homestar runner humor in a simple point and click package. can't go wrong with this whatsoever.

this game's had a bunch of ups and downs since i started playing- its thematically gorgeous, but between the gatekeeping community, the lethargic/generally unfun meta, and incompetent devs, the average quality of matches has deteriorated so damn much its genuinely infuriating. the events keep getting worse and somehow new alternative weapons or objectively stupid gimmicks keep getting added to the game with little thought if they'd negatively impact the outcome of the average match.

this game has lost its magic entirely and i can safely say i see no reason to play it anymore.

this game is woefully undercooked and doesn't adhere to what little standards vr shooters have. here's my major gripes from just the hub/menu:
- your inventory isn't persistent so you're required to dump your loot in your hideout or it actually just vanishes and you've lost guns/armor/bags
- the shelves are allowed to store certain things but only if you put them in JUST right or they'll vanish should you need to relog for whatever reason
- absolutely no optimization for the index whatsoever which makes the control scheme feel strange
- sort of "realistic," loading techniques for the guns that fall short within the limited confines of vr, i.e actually have to sort of rock an AK mag into place instead of it snapping in like other shooters- neat but just doesn't work when trying to practice mag drills to see how the game plays
- incredibly infuriating ui system that relies on an exact placement of a virtual finger and for whatever reason does not behave as expected
i could go on, i haven't even played a match yet due to the social system being down as of writing this review, but i have little to no hope with this game if basic functions don't even work right now.

i don't really know what MY specific issue is with this game, but the physics never quite feel right by any sort of modicum. fighting feels unnatural as there's a very weird sort of rubberbanding system with how enemies "predict," and move follow your movements, ladders and scaling objects in general is needlessly a chore, mods seem to cause infinite loading bugs, no mods seem to do the same, i could go on really. i definitely might keep playing the game, but with this being one of the oldest vr sword fighters on the market and it still feeling like a wii-era game in terms of combat is just kind of upsetting.

i also have my doubts that this game will really have any substantial first-party content within a reasonable time seeing how slow the dev cycle is

if dmz is supposed to be the future of cod, i fear for the future of cod and first person shooters. there's absolutely nothing to do in it. nothing has a purpose, there's little persistence. this is an awful attempt at making an extraction shooter.

i haven't even played warzone because im assuming its unchanged from the prior version.
