Great co-op experience. Played 2 player story mode with a player that is little more casual. I liked the narrative and little joke here and there. Gameplay is easy to get a grasp of and puzzles are fun. Even a casual player can enjoy it. Highly recommended.

Not exactly sure why my playtime is not correct, I completed at least 20 story levels (i can see that from achivements).

Best adventure game I've ever played, really. If you ever have been put off by some obscure adventure game in the past and decided to avoid the genre all together, give this a try. I think you will change your mind.

What's so awesome about this game?

The script and writing are simpy terrific! Fantastic sense of humour, hilarious ideas and really nice 4th wall breaking. I've lost count how many times I laughed and chuckled. Yes, the story involves you saving the world again, but there are couple twists along the way and it's not easy to predict what will happen next (especially taking into account adventure game logic ;). Characters are likeable and have strong personality. Their adventures usually involve finding themselves in absurd situations, facing ridiculous obstacles and solving problems in most unusual way. So adventure gaming in its best classic comedic edition.

During the course of the game you control different characters and there are times when you can switch between them on demand. The puzzles are fun and with subtle hints from conversations and item descriptions you always know what you need to do. You find and combine some items, execute actions in right order or say right things to right people. One of the highlights is preparing a magic potion, where you need to follow closely a recipe and add ingredients in correct amount, order and at right moment. There were times I missed an object (I only found out later that you can press 'space' to see all interactive objects on the screen) and walked around a bit, but in the end I found a solution by myself.

Voice acting is top-notch. I went through every possible dialogue option and clicked on every item to hear every single sentence. As is expected from adventure games, the game is pretty to look at. It's 3d graphics with locked camera, but it does have handdrawn vibe and charm.

It all comes together perfectly. Great game. I'm glad they are doing the sequel.

Outstanding adventure game.

I didn't realise that classic adventure games could be so immersive! I enjoyed latest Telltale work, but I would hardly place them in adventure genre. Gemini Rue on the other hand is a real classic point-and-click adventure game, though you could say that the biggest flaws and offenders of the genre were left out. You won't find any illogical obstacles and puzzles, pixel hunting or absurd item combining.

What you get is a great sci-fi noiresque story, where you are a detective looking for his lost brother on some god-forgotten planet. Later the game opens up and lets you switch between the two main characters, the detective and the missing brother. It really does feel like you're detective, getting dirty and doing the groundwork: asking around, getting true identity of people, searching information about them in database. Top this with action sequences where you can cover and shoot at your enemies and you really get an exceptional adventure game. Voice acting and writing is astounding and the story itself is intriguing and suprising. All of that in a indie game made by the handful of people! I did enjoy the visual style of the game and I think it befits the game, but I guess some people could argue that the resolution is too low.

Overall, superb game, highly recommended. A great reminder that the adventure games are a great way to tell a story and don't have to be obscure and plagued with bizzare puzzles.

I've heard a lot of good things about the game and honestly, and I'm not dissapointed. It could have been just another puzzle platformer game, but it's so much more. It takes talent to add characters to what seems to be just plain rectangles of different color. It takes even more talent to make you care for them.

The mechanic itself is straightforward you switch between rectangles, which have different strong and weak sides, and try to place them in correct positions on the level. So one rectangle jumps higher but doesn't fit in smaller places etc. Over the course of game, multiple rectangles are introduced and each have his own unique trait. That could be it. But the developers go further, every rectangle has its name and personality and there's a story. Boy does it make a difference. Gameplay maybe pretty simple, but it really supports the writing, so characters not only say they help each other, they really do it.

The writing is so good and personalities so belivable, that you quickly forget that these are just colored block. There's one rectangle which is self dependant but likes to show off, another one which is grumpy and doesn't like to rely on others, yet another one which learns to appreciate its unique trait and wants to become a hero. Hell, I still remember rectangles' names, that's got to mean something ;) To sweaten the deal, all of this is delivered by pretty great narrator.

Over the course of game you meet multiple interesting characters and what you get is a pretty interesting fellowship of rectangles ;). As you watch them struggle, help and rely on each other, you really get the sense of the teamwork. Characters themselves first shy and reluctant, learn to trust each other and appreciate the company. It's such a positive game. The writing itself is clever and witty, and I found myself smiling through most of the game. There were couple cheap memes and references as in most of the indies, but other than that it was pretty solid.

Highly recommended, it's a great example of successfully combining story and gameplay.

Quite nice puzzle game. The gimmick with light is really clever and it's nicely executed. In short if it's not lit, it doesn't exist. So to stand on something you either have to lit it with a lamp or carry some source of light. Game looks awesome and has a nice mysterious feeling to itself which works great for a game in which you have to explore level to find a solution because you only see a part of it. Puzzle itselfs were pretty logical, the learning curve didn't have any bumps and you used what you learned before (apart from one level which is hinting at wrong solution on purpose to mislead you). Most of the puzzles can be solved in matter of minutes just by experimenting and exploring what works, so it's not one of those puzzle games where you have to take a break when you see next level. Overall pretty fun and unique title which really stands out among other puzzle games.

It's really more of a contest admission than a game. It really disappointed me, having read lot of positive reviews and opinions. I'm not even talking about shockingly short length (measured in minutes), which I was aware before buying. Maybe it's a fault of the hype around it, claiming that there's more to that game than there really is.

The game does features some original ideas. The story is told achronologically, conveyed only through pictures and to put all the pieces together you will have to play through it couple times to notice things after seeing whole picture. If only story would be more absorbing and had less holes in it (it's derp, it's open ended!!!). Why would you play narrative game if not for the bloody story? In result there's not much incentive to put all the pieces together (you're not going to connect all the dots anyway, so why bother).

The graphics is OK (for a Quake 2 modded engine that is) and the music is quite nice. What's most annoying is that it's a barely a game, your actions don't matter at all. Leave guns and ammo? Nobody cares. Take different direction, game teleports you! That's just lazy level design (or lack of it). Goes without saying that you have no effect on the ending. It does say something about the game if "credit hall" is the biggest level in game.

In the end it's neither good game nor good story. I don't think it will make much difference in story-telling department as well. I'm glad not much developers charge for proof of concept projects. It's of course important to experiment and explore what games can be and become, but it shouldn't be an excuse. That's the hardest part, turning brave and new ideas into working and absorbing games, not just leaving them be and packaging it as a game. I enjoyed "To the moon", this not so much. Maybe it would worked more as a Interactive Fiction? Spare the money, watch it on youtube.

I must say that I really enjoyed it. In a sense it's basically just more of the first Half-Life. Which is not a bad thing because that means all things that made half-life what it is, including the crouch jumping, crawling in vents and odd puzzles. Even after all this years it really holds well, and it's still a great entertainment.

Although I kinda wish they would intertwine the story with original one to more degree and used opportunity to reveal more details from different perspective. Freeman is shown couple times, but wouldn't it be cool if you could sometimes see him running around, maybe accidentally helping you unlock a door or turn a power on (or off and make matters more difficult, that selfish bastard :).

Also It's kinda strange that as an ordinary (but brave) guard you're basically doing the same things as Gordon, only you're expected to do it without H.E.V. suit. Another great thing to see would be a little more humane and humorous side to the Calhoun having the worst job day ever.

But I guess it's easy now to throw all this ideas writing it on 2013, gaming was different back then (but still has it's charm). To sum up great addition to Half Life series, but not required to play as it doesn't add much to the story.

Boy did I enjoy this game. Although it's a FPS game, its strongest moments are when no shooting is actually happening. The game offers some impressive graphics and climatic music, but it's all the smail details that immerse player. Pumping pneumatic weapons, charging your torchlight, bullets as currency. And the gasmask, which really adds to the excitement, full of cracks you hardly see through, vision blurs because as you suffocate it's time to change filter and just as you change filter some monster pops out. Even though the game is pretty much linear, there are times when you're given a choice, and scripting is usually done in such a clever way, that you wonder if you could change the course of action. Base on the novel, game features great plot, letting you see variety of locations and do all different stuff. With couple of russian comrades you will often get yourself in some serious ♥♥♥♥, resulting in plenty of epic moments. I almost forgot how great storytelling FPS can do.

Great game. Simple mechanics combined with awesome music and a lot of variety. What's starts as a simple jumpling from plant to plant, later becomes more complex fun with gravity, slow motion, levers and colour dimensions. Developers used the potential of the game to the maximum. Together with simple and intuitive controlls, it makes for a nice relaxing experience.
