Shadow of War is a fun, easy to play game. If you've ever played Batman: Arkham Knight, then I'd say that the combat is very similar. It's nothing too hard; you're given a few basic attacks and learn how to counter different types of enemies.

Where this game shines is with the nemesis system. This system allows you to recruit orcs you find out in the world, each having a relatively unique personality, look, and style of combat. After a while, many of these orcs blend into one, but the system is fun nevertheless. You can then use these orcs as bodyguards, assassins, and fighters in fortress sieges. Basically, they do your dirty work. They might also save you from death or betray you, meaning that unique stories are generated between yourself and particular orcs. You may kill one by chopping his limbs off, only for him to come back with a vengeance, his limbs haphazardly sewn back on or replaced by scrap metal.

The story is solid, and Celebrimbor's character (and his actor's performance) were highlights for me. It doesn't feel like anything too special to begin with, but offers a unique and thought-provoking twist at the end of the game.

The game also features numerous collectables and achievements to hunt down if you enjoy that.

Overall, I'd give this game a 7/10. Excepting the nemesis system, the game isn't anything too unique, but is otherwise solidly put together and offers an enjoyable experience.

The perfect mix of strategy and chance

Lots of teams, each with unique playstyles

A fun setting, with good animation, cool player models and good (if slightly repetitive) voice acting

With games, I often have "phases" of playing them which last for a week up to a month at a time. Sometimes, a game's longevity will only consist of one or two phases, while others last a few more. Total War: Warhammer is one of the latter. Perhaps even beyond that, as I have been playing this game consistently for well over 2 months now. For me, that says something.

I figured I'd have to leave a review when Creative Assembly made Immortal Empires available to everyone who owns the third game. Since I already had Immortal Empires, this decision had no bearing on me in terms of actual gameplay. However, this does tell me that the developers really do care about the community. Immortal Empires is an excellent experience and I believe, the definitive way to experience these games. Seeing all of the races & factions from every game come together on one map makes the experience feel complete. Each race is completely different in terms of style, roster and gameplay, allowing for countless hours to be spent on each one. They're all incredibly fun and there's a faction out there for everyone. Do you want to pummel the enemy with artillery and make them come to you? Try the Dwarfs. Do you want to swarm the enemy with mass numbers? Try Skaven. Or maybe, you'd like a more balanced roster allowing for a flexible playstyle- Empire.

Something that I don't often see mentioned, and one of my favourite aspects of the game, is the amount of detail around the Warhammer lore put into this game. Descriptions of units, items and buildings are all interesting and varied. Having not read any of the books or played the tabletop game, I find this all very engaging, helping me to keep immersed in the experience. The unit card art, soundtrack, and dozens upon dozens of maps all help to further accentuate this feeling.

All in all, Total War: Warhammer 3 is an excellent game. The main downside to me is the amount of money that needs to go into these games if you wish to unlock more races. Aside from that, blink and the hours trickle away...

I've had Project Zomboid for years now, but it never really appealed to me. The graphics were a bit basic, and the game didn't seem very welcoming to new players. Since then, Build 41 has been released. Now, the game is fleshed out. There is so much you can do. The map is huge, and there are many skills you can learn. Mechanics is vital if you want to fix up cars, making travelling around the map and finding new resources that much easier. Carpentry, for if you want to board up a house and weather out the horde, or, to make your own base. I can see myself playing a lot more of this game.
