A culmination of 20 years of excellence that was the original Silent Hill 2, Bloober team was able to recreate one of my most favorite gaming experiences of all time, despite Bloober's spotty track record.

All elements of the original game were carefully considered and tastefully re-imagined or expanded upon so there is something new to discover for old fans and new arrivals alike. The gameplay of the original was admittedly very basic, and Bloober was able to both create a more engaging and convenient experience using modern techniques and innovations developed since the original's release.

The actors gave their own great take on beloved characters, and I especially loved Luke Roberts, Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, and Gianna Kiehl's performance of James, Maria, and Angela's characters respectively. While I preferred Monica Horgan's original performance of Mary, Gunnarsdóttir's performance of Maria was quite a unique and original imagining of her character; a definite preference over the original.

The sound design accompanied by Akira Yamaoaka's remade soundtrack elevates the experience--Yamaoaka really has made one of the best soundtracks in gaming in my opinion. Bloober Team's vision of Silent Hill's locale is fantastic, and when you pair the visual fidelity and sound design of the remake together, it creates a very strong and cohesive experience that is easy to get lost in. That being said, the optimization can be done better and should be held to a higher standard. While it runs mostly fine on my machine, I still experience hitches and stuttering while traversing through the game, sometimes the frames can drop heavily as well.

Admittedly, I entered the Silent Hill 2 Remake with low expectations and was completely blown away by the quality that Bloober Team was able to deliver. This was the make it or break it title that SH fans have needed after Konami let the IP languish for years, and I hope this bodes well for future titles and possible remakes. I will greatly give this game a resounding recommendation, and Silent Hill f definitely has some large shoes to fill.

Early Access Review
It's been a little over ten years since this game has been conceived and I've played this since it was a free, fancy mini-game called Bullseye that you can still find on the official site (account required). Still is not anywhere near finished and has no worthwhile content, you might as well play the web based mini-game and have the same experience, except you can't move. Developers add some content for a very lackluster multiplayer and coop is only fun for one play through.

I haven't played much PvP multiplayer, it isn't why I play Interstellar Marines, but it has nothing worth noting.

The coop is very straight forward--begin, do objectives, don't die, leave. It's pretty linear and doesn't give any incentive for a replay.

There are also maps that you can walk around that shows off its technical capabilities and assets that cannot be found or interacted with ingame (Landsharks, mechs, etc.). There's great potential to be found, but it's ultimately wasted at this rate of development.

Overall, I'm disappointed at the current state of this game and I'm not optimistic on 2016 for Interstellar Marines. If Zero Point Software were to turn around and add much more later on, that would be great, but I won't be waiting around for it any longer.

I cannot recommend a purchase for this product.

Starring your favorite millennial bands, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, GORILLAZ, COLDPLAY, NINE INCH NAILS, MUSE, LINKIN PARK and MORE (because what else encapsulated the early 2000's better than your favorite bands), Emily is Away has you in the role of a dude on the quest for ♥♥♥♥♥ but not getting any in an immersive Windows XP chat room.

Struggle to survive the college life of the turn of the century and win the heart acknowledgement of your one true love bestfriend.

The game bends to you. In your playthrough, you will be presented with difficult decisions, like whether to participate in an art school, go out with friends to the movies, or deciding if you'd rather say "howdy" than "hello."

Customize your chat to have it look the way you want to. Change the color of the text to acid fuzz green and change your user picture when you decide that you like 300 more than The Ring.

Interact with your contacts list and see each of your friends' souls in the form of song lyrics and never communicate with them in this realistically simulated environment.

SCORE: friend / zone
