A 16-bit puzzle platformer that may be short but it packs quite a punch. It takes queues from many puzzle/platformers, such as: Portal, Half-Life, Braid, and VVVVVV, just to name a few. You play as a spaceship captain who, aided by helpful aliens must repair your ship to return out there somewhere. While the premise and the controls of the game are straight forward, this game is more challenging than meets the eye. If you enjoy bit graphics and are also a fan of platformers you should be playing it right now.

'm left wondering why this game was even made and who decided that offering it to the public would be a good idea.

It feels like an unfinished student's project, and I don't even want to know how the imprecise controls work on a tiny mobile device's screen, especially when you really have to get lucky at times, in order to get through some of the tiny, passable gaps, barely squeezing your ship between two environmental hazards.

I was attracted by the colorful visuals, even if they feel like a mashup of several different designs that don't really go together, expecting a tight shooter, and was left disappointed by what seems to be an incomplete prototype that doesn't yet have all the mechanics implemented.

You can't steer the robot, if you touch a cloud you die, stuff suddenly collapses and kills you, it's basically a quick time event cinematic with lousy flow and no testing, that makes even Flappy Bird look like a game with some though put into it.

I have to say... this is really bad. First of all you have exactly one attack. No block, no roll, etc. Just wildly spamming left mouse. Second, this is easy on the hardest mode. Third, this is a TERRIBLE console port. You can't even navigate the menu with your mouse... that's how lazy they were. No real graphics improvements either. Ironically you can't use a controller to play either. They did not make the gold fun to find either, its always just hiding behind the rock you are passing or stairs you are going up. And the saving is automatic at start of level with no checkpoints in between, meaning if you fell off a thin flight of stairs or something, you are stuck repeating the level.

This game just doesn't impress. It's hard to recall another game in which you have so little direct control over events, and yet are called upon for so very much micromanagement. The good news for fans of this sort of game is that The Settlers III is right around the corner.

Considering the entire game was developed by one man, Dead Bits is a pretty impressive effort. Unfortunately, the game is lacking in almost every aspect when compared to its competition with the exception of its toe-tapping, head-bobbing dubstep soundtrack. If you're curious what's possible with the Unity engine and you like dubstep, it might be worth a look, and if you do, make sure to add on the soundtrack for a buck. Otherwise, stay clear.
