i'm not a huge fan of remakes and remasters. in the majority of cases, i'd rather something new than re-releasing something old for a second profit run. they tend to put a bad taste in my mouth.
so keep that in mind when i say that risk of rain returns is the greatest remake i've ever played.
the things they add to this game are so monumental that it more than justifies another release. if you liked the first game or 2, this is by far the most intelligent mechanical design out of all of them. give it a go.

Figured I should write a review of my favorite game of all time. Bear in mind I have around 20 or so more hours beyond the ones I spent on steam on the original EGS release.
Outer Wilds is one of those games that i will truly never, ever ever forget. Partially to it's detriment, as I'd love to be able to play it again from the start, but if you've heard anything about it then you already know it isn't that kind of game. This game is a work of art, it's one of the only games I've ever played that i could truly describe as medium-bending. It's a game that if you are at all even remotely interested in you should stop reading reviews and buy it right now, because it IS worth that 25 bucks and it IS as spoiler-dependent as everyone says it is. It's even getting DLC soon. We're all very excited.
Bottom line, if you've watched the trailers and aren't convinced or aren't sure what kind of game this is, it's a space-exploration game where you travel to various unique and dangerous planets to learn more about an ancient alien civilization and slowly unravel an insane mystery about the end of the world. That's all you get. We really mean it when we say the less you know the better. Progression is this game is carried by knowledge instead of items or keys, so looking up a playthrough or a walkthrough *will* completely ruin your experience.
In some ways, Outer Wilds is probably not for everyone. It's not exactly a regular game. But if you play it and DO end up loving it, it's easily worth every penny. So give it a shot.
