After spending an hour with "The First Descendant," I found the experience to be quite underwhelming. The character customization options were severely lacking, and the initial five-minute tutorial was a complete mess. Once the tutorial concluded, I was immediately greeted with a long loading screen followed by incessant pop-ups urging me to purchase cosmetics priced between $5 and $10.

The voice acting throughout the game was mediocre at best, with most characters sounding like they were voiced by AI. While the movement mechanics stood out as a highlight, the combat felt distinctly like a mobile game, a sentiment reinforced by the UI design, which seemed more suited to an iPad than a PC or console.

Moreover, the game lacks essential graphics options such as disabling motion blur or depth of field. If you prefer playing in borderless window mode, you'll be disappointed as that option is unavailable. On the positive side, the soundtrack was clean and pleasant, standing out as one of the game's few highlights.

Playing on a 3070 FE, I managed to run the game at 4K resolution with high settings relatively smoothly, though there were occasional stutters. The cutscenes sometimes skipped, leading to frequent disconnects for my friends and me during multiplayer sessions. Despite these issues, the multiplayer mode was incredibly fun, offering a variety of team gameplay elements, including 2v2 co-op challenges, emotes, and even ragdoll-friendly fire, allowing players to shoot explosives at friends and watch them fly across the map.

One of the standout characters, the "rocket bunny girl," was an absolute delight to play. Her ability to skip around, perform cool flips, and micro-fly around bosses added a dynamic element to the gameplay. The bosses themselves are massive, reminiscent of "Shadow of the Colossus," with mechanics that require players to execute attack animations targeting the bosses' weak spots.

Overall, "The First Descendant" shows a lot of potential but ultimately falls short in its combat mechanics. I hope future iterations will address these shortcomings and deliver a more refined gaming experience.

Would be better if it was as fluent as assassins creed and didn't feel like I was a brick running.

Imagine playing a game where everyone is toxic then imagine yourself playing with the most annoyingly sluggish controls in existence and mix it with a Developer that doesn't listen to a community that literally resurrected their game back to life just to receive a slap right back in their face. 10/10 Would call it a "Abusive Relationship"
