Slitterhead throws you into a world of blood-soaked chaos as Night Owl, a ghostly entity with the power to possess human bodies. Haunted by visions of a burning city and monstrous foes, Night Owl must uncover the truth behind the Slitterheads—parasitic creatures hiding among humans and feeding on their brains.

The game’s unique mechanic allows you to switch between bodies mid-battle, using each host’s abilities to fight grotesque monsters. Combat is the game’s strongest feature, blending strategic body-hopping, weaponized blood, and special rarity skills. These rare individuals resonate with Night Owl, granting unique powers and shaping the flow of combat.

While the battles are thrilling, the pacing falters. Missions often alternate between intense fights and slower investigative tasks, requiring players to find clues and engage in lengthy dialogue sequences. Though these conversations reveal more about the rarities’ backstories, they feel obligatory and disrupt the action.

Visually, Slitterhead offers striking cutscenes and horrifying monster transformations, but the in-game environments and character models lack variety. The city, while atmospheric, feels restrictive due to invisible walls and linear mission zones.

The story starts strong with its mysterious premise but loses steam with its slow pace and convoluted twists. By the halfway point, the momentum fades, and the remaining hours feel like a slog to the finish.

Slitterhead has some compelling ideas—its combat system and body-hopping mechanic stand out—but the slow pacing, lackluster visuals, and uneven storytelling weigh it down. While fans of bizarre horror may find something to appreciate, most players will struggle to stay engaged.
